just wanna know how we tune our guitars. if you have any other ways of tuning, please share...

I think all the above methods are fine as long the band sounds in tune. To understand more about tuning the guitar, here's an excellent link: http://www.guyguitars.com/eng/handbook/Tuning/tuning.html#methods

Guitar players love to use 5/7 harmonics to tune, however it is explained in the link why it will not work.

For those strobe users out there, running a compressor into the tuner will make tuning much easier as the compressor will sustain the note to allow it register better on the tuner.

there are people out there who don't tune/ don't know how to... they send instruments for re-stringing, ask for a free tune-up... maybe the importance of tuning one's instrument is much overlooked...

Hard-tail bridge guitars, although simpler and much more versatile, go out of tune much more often than Floyd Rose and Tremolo bridge guitars, so yeah tuning (and re-stringing) your own guitar is a necessary skill... This applies to Floyd Roses and vintage tremolos too...

I use a digital clip-on tuner, but it picks signals pretty weak so I usually use my ears or my old Johnson tuning fork once in a while.

Point taken.. I really like the look, feel AND sound of an Ibanez RG350..
But the floyd rose is a killer for me.. Wouldn't like tuning it often..
Heck I don't even know how to restring a floyd rose.. :???:

Anyone out there who wants the accuracy of a Strobostomp but doesn't want to pay for it should try out a software called "G-tune" http://www.jhc-software.com/gtune.htm

The company's technology was bought over by Peterson and rebranded "Strobosoft" but the G-tune version is free :)

excellent interface, very good esp if you run your guitar through your computer for recording etc etc.

check it out.

Dude, if you don't know then...
The floyd rose is the hardest to knock out of tune and one of the most accurate when it comes to minute adjustments.

I use a strobostomp... never any issue with it tracking neither had any need for a comp before it for assistance. Maybe its got to do with fingers ya?
