where can i find items (like ICs and yes the WAH pot) for making pedals other that sim lim??? (i can't find the customized wah pot there, and a few ICs 2...) also where can i get a custom paint job for guitar???

other than rs, can try farnell as well. http://sg.farnell.com/

some of the chips cheaper then rs.

rs good coz no need credit card also can book online and go tuas to pick up the goods from their office. Only thing troublesome is the long long ride deep deep in, twisting and turning route into tuas, missed the tiny road signage/bustop to alight, might just ended back at boon lay interchange after 50 plus mins journey

re:

Small Bear stocks almost everything. Farnell has a wide array of ICs available but minimum purchase value for free delivery in sg in $30.

farnell is only good when you buy in BULK or if you need that particular chip like right here right now and you only need ONE.

A lot of chips can be and cannot be had at Sim Lim Tower. You just gotta do some legwork going from shops to shops.

Wah pots look overseas.

oh yah any of u all ever make a wah b4??? cos i found out that davis is selling them... at $55... and there different types... i dunno wat to get!!!

haizzzz.

theres already 2 sites name being mentioned, if you didnt noticed. Yes, that 2 website will give you what you wanna

as for simlim tower, its basically the 3rd floor and some of the basement shops

its your responsibility to go walk and ask from shops to shops round there on the chips. We have no obligations to even help down to the exact shops nor auntie to look for the chip

We have shown you the path, now its your turn to waste, searching for the things you need.

sorry if that sound harsh. But look at the way you ask and response after what we have said, at least on the useful info on the 2 sites.

waoooh lann dey!!!

pathein... i can see your patience is wearing thin! OMGWTFBBQ!!!! this one never happen before!

heh, bro edder, me patience still got many, maybe just kinda used up at certain time

gotta apologised to thread starter as well. Sorry, i was too harsh. Dont take it too hard. As much as what we can help, sometime, theres really a need to make some effort to search for stuff, especially for diy-ing on our own after being shown the way. Perhaps it might not be too clear, but for sure as long as determined enough to do it, theres really nothing too difficult to find.

Anyway, for the chips you cant find, maybe you like to state down what ic is it. It will be easier. The reason why we mentioned the 2 sites and similim tower coz for anyone donig diy locally, its where we can really get hold of stuff we need, without looking at foreign sites

and for foreign sites, other then small bear, another 2 sites which are often mentioned in diy forums, namely mouser and banzai electronic.

and if you need the exact url for mouser or banzai electronic, use this, www.google.com

ok, the path has been shown, now its time to go out there and find. Sometime it doesnt matter whether our help is appreciated or not, but at least hope that the act of sharing, can be passed down to the next one, needing help in diy-ing.

imho

Thumb up for all the place u all mention. But 1 thing for sure Log pot is the most difficult to find especially sim lim.Koba electronic got only few value. So any other place other than the online where you can find Log pot at good price? thanks
Just some advice, please do your homework when buying opamp/chips at simlim.some shops are selling almost twice what other is selling.just my 5cent of advice. :D

heh, is koba a corner shop down at the basement?

I found some log pots and pot with on/off switch from there. But never really look at the shop name. That shop is tuck away in a corner, beside a staircase which lead outside, facing the hdb at rocher center.

OK sorry to hijack this thread cos i need help now. I cant seem to find pots with short shafts at sim lim. does anyone know where to get those at sim lim? i also cant seem to find audio tapered ones.

i know small bear stocks them but if can buy locally would be best

Hi, due to the above issues, i get my pots from various suppliers on the net. ED heard my frustrations when we meet at our fav shop at sim's recently...we talked lots...so much so that the owner decided to buy 4d on both our birth year.:???:

For a wah pot, the Dunlop hot potz II does the worx.
I would not bother with the icar mojo (i am trying to save you some pain, frustration and money here ...ok) as it's pretty much hype.
The hot potz comes sealed thus giving lasting protection and durability.

I don't even want to go into the inductor mojo ...just any with 500~600mH can do here.
'An inductor can store energy in its magnetic field, and an inductor tends to resist any change in the amount of current flowing through it. While a capacitor opposes changes in voltage, an inductor opposes changes in current. In practice, inductors have some resistance and some 'distributed' capacitance. The capacitance means that inductors have a self-resonant frequency.'

Cheers,
Goose
