Heaviest Pick-Up Known!!!!

'heavy' is about distortion; pickups add definition to it.

yepp +1. what you want is a high output humbucker which retains lots of clarity.
scooped mids? heavy mids? heavy bass? the pickup can manifest that as well, though the AMP and EQ is the biggest.

my suggestion would be just to get something simple. No point getting a boutique pickup without a kick ass amp. just get something that has high output, and perhaps excels in the mids and bass. and is clear so your chords and shreds dont mud up.

Hey Soft-ies!

Sorry if the Tittle make you think differently. but i want to ask you guys something.

I'm thinking of changing my B.C. Rich M7 Warlock Pick-ups.

i ONLY play Metal on that guitar.

i would then want to change the pick-ups to a pick-up that is Mainly for Metal.

Can you tell me the "Heaviest Pick-up" that you know?

I'm thinking of the EMG 85 & 81 OR The Seymour Duncan Blackouts.

But Can You Guys Tell Me The Heaviest Pick-up That You Knw?

Also,
If I Get A Active Pick-up, Do I Need To Pay More For Them To Make The Slot For The 9V??

If So, About How Much More?

Plz Tell Me Yr Suggestions.

Thanks!

i think it will be better if u use EMG HZ H4.i have use that pickups,u can see the review from the web.its a passive humbucker pickup&the sound is awesome.i have it 2 more, made in usa.i want to sale it at sing $85 each new.my position in batam.dont worry u can see the pickup 1st because we are near.this is my cp.afdon fernandez (+62 812 70322 485

I'm using SD blackouts. You can see how they sound on my myspace. The personal one, none of the Oshiego album material that I recorded with my blackouts loaded guitar is online yet.

no seller would say that their products are bad anyway.

sorry to hijack thread. but this is a damn beginner question. is there a difference in putting the pick-up in the bridge position and neck position? I am planning to change all my pick-ups, and my guitar is a HSS.

haha....Being a Messhuggah fan, I've always wanted to try them....

Fredrik gets quite a clear, articulate yet heavy tone from his 8 strings.....

Heard alot of great things about Lundgren... Would love to try out one myself before getting one...

yes there is- it's about the final tone you hear coming out from your amp, the different placement of pickups will give off a different tone/ sound coming from the instrument. before we engage in a pickup overhaul for our guitars, be sure to compliment it with a worthy amp to manifest the desired 'revised' tone. we can invest in the world's boutique pickups but still plug our guitars into a practice grade, 8" driver equipped amp- what's the point?

always this consideration for tone: amp upgrade before pickups 8-)

should you replace pickups at all? some reading, if you can spare the time:http://theguitaraddict.blogspot.com/2008/10/should-i-swap-pickups.html

ok. so which position is for what purpose? fr example, if I'm playing lead, which position should I put my desired pickup? and if I'm playing rhythm, which position should I put my desired picup at?

its difficult to tell if u dont specify a genre. some metal guitarists have only a bridge pickup on their guitar. some even have a middle pickup to mess ard with. even for rock, some guitarists rarely touch the neck pickup. =/

Allan Holdsworth doesn't play metal but he only needs a solitary humbucker to rule over everybody else in guitardom- the implication is clear; he needs only one pickup.
