its difficult to tell if u dont specify a genre. some metal guitarists have only a bridge pickup on their guitar. some even have a middle pickup to mess ard with. even for rock, some guitarists rarely touch the neck pickup. =/

Its personal preference..... i like the neck pickup for sweeping and legato...bridge for rhythm sounds...but i know of one guy who only uses his neck pickup, even for chugging rhythms.

its all a question of preference and tweaking, there is no universal right or wrong in the world of tone....
