Have I been conned?

I was walking to work today and this monk guy comes up to me and kept saying "peace" and had a leaflet pad with titles saying Name, from, what you want, financial aid.

And he handed me this gold card with a buddhist person (a female? i've never seen that) and a red sports car (a word 95 clipart type thing)

So I wrote my name and wrote singapore on the lest. I noticed that everyone else were expats or tourists. Some people even gave him $40+. so I pulled out my wallet and pointed to my lose coins and he pointed to the cash part. I had a $2 and 2x $5 and he was pointing to the $5's. I needed them for dinner and mums day chocolates. He pulled out one of those beadd bracelet things. I pulled out $2. He took ti from my hand and rushed off. I was like WTF.

Was this guy for real or just some guy dressing up like a monk and taking peoples money?

the way he rushed off made me wish I didnt give him anything.

you were conned. real monks don't beg.
the reason only expats and tourists were on the list is cos locals know better than to give to such charlatans.

wow! i had something wierd happen to me today also. let me share it with u guys. :D

at abt 11:30, i was at my bus stop and a buss 222 pulled up to let in a few passengers. since i am so used to taking 14 to school, i did not board the bus 222 and waited. when 222 juz started moving, a bus 14 came within sight and my 1st reaction was to flag it down. when i entered the bus, the indian driver (this is my 3rd bad experience with an indian bus driver) said to me, angrily, "eh boy *points at the 222 moving away in front* that bus don't go interchange ah?" i said, "sorry, i didn't see it, i'm not wearing my specs." he replied, almost shouting with a, "don't come and play with me ok, i can chase you out of this bus!" i did not reply and went to take a seat. when i got off the bus at bedok interchange, i saw his eyes glaring at me through the rear-view mirror and when i got off, i looked back and he was gesturing wildly for me to take off my headphones. i know i should not have done this, but i gave him a rude gesture in return. he ruined my day first thing in the morning.

p.s
the dialogue stated above is actual. note the bad english of the indian driver (no offence to indians in general)

some drivers need anger management. i've got one giving me evil eyes while boarding/alighting/in mirrors and almost purposely driving recklessly. bus 85 during weekday afternoons when almost no one takes the bus

but yes true monks absolutely do not beg...

Chester I had a similar experience with you for getting a bus driver pissed off when I was in secondary 4. It happened twice and on the 2nd time the fella saw me at the bus stop , made eye contact with me and just drove off because there was a double decker bus in front of his bus and was waiting for the double decker bus to move off before flagging it down. After all , both buses were at the bus stop. I complained to SBS and the from then onwards I never saw him driving bus 76 ever again....

It was an indian driver by the way....

oh yeah, continuing on the evil bus drivers thing, i HATE smrt bus drivers, theyre ALL dickheads, why?

let me juystify my evil statements

1) everytime i am late, they always slowly drive, just so they can meet the red traffic light

2) when i am not late, they always drive recklessly, as in speed, then jam brakes real hard at the bus stop

3) they drive off even when i flag them at the bus stop sometimes

4) they are so ashamed of their piss poor behaviour, they don't dare put their name in that sign that says "*insert name here* is pleased to serve you"

well, sometimes it doesnt matter whether im late or not, but i fing the 1st 2 reasons bloody irritating, and im gonna write to the straits times soon

and nope, i've never been conned by a monk before

Hehe chester - good for you. Don't be embaressed.

Off topic: I get stared and chuckled at all the time, and friday night i was in a cab home...a group of 4 guys where in a car just next to me, doing the usual looking, saying something, and then they all look and chuckle. I had had quite a few drinks, so i smiled and gave them the finger - they followed me home! Hahah I got outta the cab, and they got outta there car. I guess I didn't register that it was 4 v 1, and they were saying something in chinese. I stood there and said "so are we gonna go or not" and then they stared at me for a few seconds and got in and drove off again...Thinking back it was pretty stupid to challenge them when I was drunk and alone...I got lucky : /.

My friends had a bus driver challenge them to a fight once.....

The-Warlord: bwahahaha i frucking love your attitude man. your a chmpion. im a pussy and although I have arms that can intimidate people, im not all that strong

next time you see expats and tourists givin beggin' monks big sums o' moola, stop them! :D

btw, i did not give him middle finger. i am a civilised human being :D

i don't think there's a need to mention their race.. hehe. yeah warlord, that was some pretty fierce shit  beng ah bengggggggg

SBS drivers ain't never do shit to me .. I love them !! You chinese people got it bad ... Indians are plotting against you!! God why!! WHY!!!!

bus drivers are ok for me. I stop them and ask if they are going to X destination, if so i get on, iff not they drive off. they dont ever give me shit.

just to balance things up, i got fucked by a Chinese driver before. was in school studying late, i didn't want to use the money in my ez-link(save it for mrt trip, low value left). showed him my ez link, put in 55cents, mofo started saying something in Chinese, shouting, screaming. so i just tapped and walked to the back to my GF(she entered first). my gf(she's chinese) told me something about he saying i could go to the court or something. he continued screaming until my stop. wow :?

I can understand jeremy's frustration. Alot of times the bus would slow down abit before the traffic light, irritating indeed
