niteblade:ok Now i get it...i wont buy 100w....

TravisK:since you say 30 watt is reasonable, how is the difference is to compare with my 10w amp??vol??tone??clean?? im very interested in knowing this...and what brand/model of 30 amp you find it good*??

By the way.TravisK ,what amp u using??

go wikipedia and check out what gears synster gates and zacky vegeance
uses, then get it and you will have the exact same sound as them.

lol dont know y u gonna follow some guy's tone , his tone aint no eric johnson tone .
save up MORE for a much better amp , dont save up till like 300bucks then decide wad u gonna buy with that cash . save up more so u can widen u're buying range.

A7X uses bogner for City of Evil and mesa for their live.but it cost you a bomb just to get the head.

if so just get randall.they got pretty good high gain amps.

The difference of what a 30-watt can produce over a 10-watt is its clarity. A 10-watt sounds too compressed and doesn't justify one's playing ability. But of course, not all 30-watt amps produce the same tonal clarity.

Some sound really awesome in 'Clean' Mode and some in the 'Dirty' channel. For your choice of music, Vox & Fender amps doesn't cut it. (Correct me if i'm wrong)

Go check out Marshalls, Peaveys, Laneys & Krank. :D

Or if you can afford it, get a Mesa Boogie. Those are the real high-gain deal.

I've heard Randalls also have quite high-gain. For me, I'd choose Marshall, and rely on my floor pod to create the Mesa Boogie tone.

Generally I prefer to rely on pedals for my effects rather than the amplifier itself, because can switch on and off for those clean passages.

AGAIN, let me remind you: you still haven't told anyone here what you're looking for, and what the problem is. Maybe you should clarify what it is you really want?

Before u go on making wrong decisions, or juz trying to copy someones else's sound, why don u be original and create ur own signature! not being crude or anything, but, tink abt it:

1) No 2 guitarist hv d same taste! (maybe some but not totally)
2) Ur playing style definately could be different frm others!
3) U need to find ur own taste and comfort zone (be it tone, pedals, amps etc)

And before u go on spilling those precious $$$, maximise every gear u hv!
Example:

1) Play wif ur Pickups (pole height & pickup height)
2) Play wif different setting on ur amp!
3) Spend some time and patience tweaking ur pedals.
4) Ur strings also do play apart in d tone! (type of gauge, coated vs non coated strings, ur open scale eg: Drop D, Standard Tuning etc)

once you've felt dat u've done all tis and still aint satisfied, den its time to go hunting!

As for amps, it is ok to buy a 100watt amp, there aint no rule saying u cant! But u also hv to take into consideration the points our other SOFT brothers mentioned abt!

For me, i do hv a 100watt amp at home! and believe me, d difference in volume can trick ur ears! for example, wat may sound at a lower volume at home, may not sound d same wen u take those same settings on ur amp & pedals to an outdoor gig or studio and crank it up! So u gotta be careful there!

If ur very particular abt tone and all, and don mind d hassle of switching amps arnd wen u gig, get an amp where u can bring arnd and as well for practice!

Juz as i would do wif my 100watt amp!!!

Juz my 2cents worth! Hope it helped somehow!

I play computer games, should I get an nVidia or an ATi gpu?

I drive to work, should I get a Toyota or a Nissan?

I watch Monte Python and the Holy Grail... I wonder which TV I should get? Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony or...

Ya'll get my point... I'm wondering why there are still so many votes on Dimarzio, SD and EMG. Its a public poll, people can see who voted what, please don't be button happy select the BRAND of pickups and click vote before thinking... There are equivilant pups in all three brands and suggesting a brand over another is as mindless as saying one should use Pilot pen instead of Pentel... or one should use Boss pedals rather than MXR pedals for metal...

For amps, one of the last things to look out for is the power rating of an amp. Consider driver size, open/closed back cab, character of amp, more than power rating of an amp. There're no issues with playing a 500watt amp with the volume at 1, or a 10 watt amp with the volume at 3 at home... These worries should be the other way round of not being loud enough for a live unmic'ed performance...

Games? NVidia... More games developed with NVidia than ATi... (I think) And ATi drivers aren't as easy to update... Depends on the manufacturer... If Asus, then HG liaoz... whahahah

Car? If sales, then buy a toyota... better FC. Nissan chassis heavy, and poorer FC... heh.

Monty Ptyhon? Lo-res can liao... No high end CGI involved...

Eh, but.. but... Monty Python and the Holy Grail got digitally remastered to DVD quality leh! Must get Panasonic! Cause I just support Panasonic... Doesn't matter Plasma, LCD or CRT, as long as its Panasonic, it has mojo, esp for movies such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail...

buckle under commercialism...if any musical equipment is not worth more then 5k, then don't buy becos anything cheaper then 5k is not worth the time.... XD~

ps: and that includes strings as well.....
