Gun Shot in Outram MRT

well, whats done been done. All we can do is hope for the ebst for the officer...and for my Alevel results in 2.5hours. ZOMG

my wife said he should have shot the arm or leg too, but my POV is if he MISSED the limbs, whoever's behind the murderer or the bullet ricochet and kena some passerby, he becomes hero to zero. (getting stabbed first, then getting labelled as "shooter") so the chest's the biggest target board. (this ain't CounterStrike also, no extra points for headshot.)

yup. that's what my cop friend said too. gotta consider the recoil of the gun too?

remember guys, it was at an mrt station, not some ulu back alley. plus, it was at outram. crowd there's always pretty dense.

all the best, Anirudh!

who they think they are?niggas in the US?these people watch too much tv and trying repilcates whats literally a ticket to life-sentence considering SG's law enforcement.

oh i thought i heard that the police officer shot the fella cause he was running at the officer and was only 3 meters away. haha. kinda scary when u think about it.

karlie, you thought and heard right. apparently, according to my cop friend, the loony chap approached the cop in threatening fashion, that's why the cop fired.

i dont understand why you guys say he should not have been shot at. such asinine behaviour warrants such a outcome, especially since i'm sure as hell he was warned repetitively to drop his weapon.

just my 0.02

He could have shot other places but aiming legs and hands of a moving target is hard. Furthermore there are so many people around him. He was probably hoping that by running in the crowd, the policeman would not shoot him. Thus it became a challenge for the police officer to deter him. If the police officer had not stopped him in time, he could have just held anyone near by as hostage. If that happens, I guess people will start questioning why didn't he fire earlier.

hmm ...comments and more comments ...

well i dun know the clear facts of this case...

anyway i tot when a 999 call receive ..the police shld already approach with caution ...and if the bugger approach you in a threatheing manner u can move back and caution him ...

not sure if the officer in jeopardy...anyway game over..maybe he ganciong...

now he the officer have to a recurring nightmare ...

i'd like to see if you do the above if you were the cop.

besides, the cop did warn the chap and told him repetitively to drop the weapon.

most wud prolly pity, sympatise with the underdog, but unfortunately, if the person who fire the shot, is our father/bro/uncle/lover/fcuk buddy, then perhaps wont be the same anymore..

hehe, what ever we can say here, thinking that the polis side/train side or which ever side shud have done better, is like what the cheena man like to say, "Ma hou Pao", aka firing cannon shot behind horse arse...What it meant, nevermind nevermind, if dont understand..

unless i am a dr hannibal lecter, its never easy to come to terms with, whatever justification I have in taking a life.

I am speaking from personal experience.Be it duty or accidental,it is hard to accept the facts that by my own action directly or otherwise, a child became an orphan,mothers/fathers without children, spouses without their better half

People can say what they want but I believe none of us here except me have gone through the anguish, pain, regret and remorse in being responsible in ending a life.

Thats all

The policeman acted in self-defence and he really warned the crazy guy.

I think it's a pity that the crazy guy failed to heed his advice and instead continue charging. The policeman could only shoot, right?

And to talk about close arms combat, mind you, the crazy guy had a knife swooping towards the policeman. I don't think it's advisable to take on someone who has a knife with just your arms or baton.
