Guitars preferred to be placed in stand or gig bags/cases?

i put my guitar in my softcase every single damn day and wipe my strings for about 5 minutes everytime after i play but still my strings rust within 1 week. sad man 
oh yeah dont talk about the screws man. all rusted until cannot rust anymore. even those screws that has never been in contact with my fingers rust, for example the screws at the input jack. damn sad man

I rest my guitar on a stand during the day, so that i can easily play it when i see or want to .
When i'll be sleeping or going out, i hang it in a guitar wall hanger, to prevent kids from messing it up or to prevent any accidental bumps from housemates when they cleaning my room.
If no one will be left at home or i'll be out for a long time, that's the time I keep it in the hard case. I don't suffer from dust that much coz my room is always airconditioned. So, keeping it outside of the hard case won't cause any dust problems for my "IVEY"! (it's my guitar pet name) :wink:
I wipe my guitar strings & frets with GHS Fast Fret & the body w/ Dunlop guitar polisher only after use. To remove acidity from the strings & body w/c will lead to rusty unbright toning strings or might lead to body paint fading due to discoloration.

I have whichever guitar I am playing that week out on the stand the whole time, which as some have said makes it accesible to just pick up, whack out a killer lick and put back on the way to the kitchen/toilet/answer door. I don't have enough space to have them all out at once so I rotate them - each guitar gets equal love!

If its a cheap guitar then wipe down and leave it on a stand.
If its an expensive one then keep in a hard case of course.Get those Silica gel dehumidifier satchets and throw them inside the case together with the guitar to keep the moisture out.

I hang mine on the wall above my double-decker bed...the bed acts as a cushion should something unfortunate happens! :lol: I wipe them and restring them once in a while and spend time with each of them every now and then. My main gigging/jamming axe (white Jaguar) is always on the outside for easy access
