Do u prefer to put ur guitars in a stand or put them inside gig bags/cases? Lets hear ur opinions..for me, I would prefer the latter so tat they wont get damaged n the parts wont get rusty..: )

I think i prefer to be in case though its troublesome.. but its best to keep it well... Im still looking for a good full padding casing.. anyone?

stand better, more easy to get hold of guitar to play.
put case think of it then suddenly lazy to get it out and play.

Hmm.

All my guitars are kept on a stand but I follow a few self-imposed rules:

1. wipe strings after usage with bandana
2. cover guitar with old t-shirt to prevent buildup of dust
3. clean strings with string cleaner once every week
4. clean body+neck with guitar polish once every week

:)

wait.
why must use bandana? ... issit some rocker ritual or sumthing.. haaha..

personally .. i wipe down with old english lemon oil (aerosol can version) and wipe the strings down with old t-shirts.

keep in case if its not used often. top 3 most played guitars go into the Coffin case for easy retrieval. im actually thinking of converting one compartment of my dressing cupboard into a guitar hanger chamber.
drill those wall hooks in and put a few thirsty hippos in.

I just hand my guits over to ChanMin for cleaning. haha.

ok, seriously, I only have 2 guits, but I keep them in a gig bag and hardcase respectively. I typically don't like leaving the guits in the open, cos the strings'll just blacken sooner than I'd expect.

Eventually I'd like to have a mini guitar chamber, but that's when I have enough dough to own enough guitars.

To make the construction of the chamber affordable, I'll just ask ChanMin to help me build it, can hor?

If you're more particular abt humidity, get a dehumidifier for your room in which you leave your guits.

Hmm.

Haha I use bandanas because last time I used to wear bandanas on my head.. until alot of people pointed out to me I looked kinda dumb wearing it then I was left with 4 bandanas so I decided to use them for wiping strings, cleaning body etc.

And yes... a mini chamber for guitar storage would be very nice. Time to go Ikea to scout for potential convertable cupboards!!!

i prefer to have leave it in the open, hanging on the wall. Whenever i wanna play it i'll grab it. The only time it goes into the gig back is when im taking it ou t of my house. I find it a hassle to put it in the gig back in the night, then take out again then put it again....ITS A CHUNK OF WOOD, it won't spoil or rot or lose its tone if left out in the open. Look at SRV's guitar, its so beat up shit yet it still sounds so damn good.

I put my axes on a stand. Only when my mom or dad or if I've to take it out of the house, then I'll put them in a gig bag.

i dont store my guitar in my hard case for extended periods. it will sweat them out, exposing them to more heat and humidity, not good. i usually leave them in the shade on a stand, away from any moisture, heat, human activity 8O

Time to revive this thread..ok guys, thinking of getting a double/triple(just in case!) stand to put in my room..will it be ok? Day time no aircon but night time aircon will be on..so will it damage my guitars in any way like neck warp etc..I do know strings will get rusty so I`m religiously going to wipe them down every day haha :)

Not sure if the continuous temperature change - room temp/aircon - will do serious damage, but I'd just suggest keeping the guitars in a case when not playing. Tedious but could prevent accidents as well.

+1 to hard case/ bags... for temporary placement (play-> need to wee...): guitar stand 8)

5 piece rockstand for me when im using them

Probably good to air the guitars once in a while

Other days its hardcases strictly

hahah my sg guitar is in my hardcase while my backup guitar is on the stand (so that i can play whenever i want )

just like me,the guitars's on the stand in the day.and goes back to sleep when i do.

letting the guitar get exposed to air can cause rust very easily

my pu selector switch is rusty... the metal part below the plastic head....

thinking of getting a hardcase.... coz i put it in a gig-bag all the time unless im playing... wonder how come can rust... along with one strap pin and a couple of pickguard screws
