among all early whacked out drug induced crazy ass vintage effects makers...

Roger Mayer and Foxx made the most visuallyghey and appealing pedals.

More knobs = more tone.
More knobs = rule the world.

Haha actually, I think less is more sometimes. Simplicity is always good, easy to find sweet spot and instant tweaking on stage (otherwise need to stick a piece of paper on floor just for settings! :P).

However...variety requires loads of knobs, so like you say, more is more tone is also true. Like your ex-fuzz factory.... 8)

Less is more but more is still more.. :D

sorry.. couldn't help myself

my uncle gave me an ibanes metalscreamer he used to jam with back then around 1980s

its missing the 9v battery clip coz i yanked it out

havent really had a chance to use it extensively, due to the missing 9v battery clip and i dont have an adaptor either

from what i recall, it kinda sounds like ts7 with more drive

I'm a sucker for analog delays... here's my little collection:

An Arion SAD 1, Boss DD2 and Boss DM2.

heh, DD-2 is a digital delay though :P. I must say your DM-2 is really a great find. the prices of it these days are simply crazy. I'm just waiting for the day that someone would sell it for below $200sgd or find it myself at cash converters or something. you are one lucky guy yup.

is the output for the DM-2 in stereo? I know that Arion SAD 1 is :) .

alright guys, back with a little update.

I've just purchased a silver screw version of the MIJ DS-1 ( thanks to David :D ). here are some pictures to show the difference between the early MIT version and the MIJ version.

ds1mijmit.jpg

notice the MIJ one has a longer dash between the DS and 1.
the MIJ is in a darker shade of orange & the font size is less bold

ds1mijmitback.jpg

early boss pedals have 3 screws with washers underneath them.
no idea why they left out the last screw lol.

pushbutton.jpg

early boss pedals have a white pushbutton instead of black.
notice the serial number is printed at the back.

soundwise, they are almost the same ( same chip after all). the difference is subtle even though the PCB inside is different. if I were to state a difference, I would say that the MIT version is slightly harsher.

if I have the chance, I would love to do an A/B between my MIT version and the current MIT version ( different chip and PCB ). I can honestly say that I've never used a silver label MIT DS-1 before.

more updates to come :D

Here is my oldest pedal that i own. A DOD Compressor/280 "Orange". My uncle bought it for me when i started playing the guitar back in 1986. Classic tones.....and i really dig the color! :D

looking nice 8). 2 knobs and no LED. should be pretty easy to tweak eh :) ? just curious on how you managed to abuse it until most of the paint came off  .

That 280 is a great compressor for guitar! I had the reissue one, but it didn't work out too well on bass, so I had to let it go :/

Very straight forward tweeking, usually set the comp at 3-4 O'clock and the level at 12 O'clock. Good boost for the soloing part. The paint eh? I played grunge once. Kurt's pedals share the same fate as mine i guess....

hahaha! that reminds me of my DS-2. thats like the only pedal that I have in terrible condition. its as if the previous owner dumps his pedals into a bag after every gig. if theres a chance, I wouldnt mind buying one in a better condition.
