Guitar hiss/static noise

Hi all

I just got a Epi LP Standard..its really a nice guitar n has excellent tones, distorted n clean. There`s only one problem though, when I plugged it in, it gives out a hiss n crackling noise n i have to touch a metal part to minimize it..when put thru the dist pedal, the hiss gets even louder..but strangely, I did not have any noise problems with my Squier Standard Strat..my Strat is pretty quiet, would u beleive? My Strat has 3 single coils n i expect them to make noise but it seems to be quieter than my LP

So is there anything wrong with my LP? The input jack or knobs, perhaps?

it might be an input jack problem i think.

cud be grounding problem or some wiring in it done opposite perhaps.

But no prob, just say its the vinyl hiss mod you have in the guitar...

:lol: so it seems a scratchy pot will be nice too ....

haha, can put the scratchy noise/hiss thru booster and lower down couple octave, can serve to fill bottomend with band without bassist! Fat bottom made for rumble!

or.. or ... or....get those smallish fm radio and custom fit into cavity for static heaven 8O

heh, other than static, must have 2 way switch to switch over radio mode when tired of playing. Just turn the dial to news 93.8 for the audience!

Sure np..hmm, why is everyone so concerned abt me eh? Hehe..was playing my LP yday n yes its a great guitar with great tones n all..but noisy hehe.Then I discovered when I tap on my neck pickup volume knob, it started to make crackling noises.

Going to send it today to the shop later

Back from the shop..n guess what? There wasn`t anything wrong with my LP. The guy suggested tat it could be my 2 pin plug tats causing the hiss n noise. So I got the 3pin wire from him n installed it in my amp. The noise n hiss is gone..my Strat is totally dead quiet
