Getting that 'Lenny' sound

Hey guys

I've been blown away many times by SRV's 'lenny'.

Finally made up my mind to learn it.

I read somewhere that he uses a chorus pedal and it sounds tht way on the CD.

He has a very shimmering tone when he plays.

Any recommendations for a chorus pedal?

Dont plan to go more than $100 for one though.

It wasn't a chorus, I think... More like the that killer Vibroverb amp... I played one before live in the UK. Awesome thing!!! But needs to be damn loud to get great tone... heheh...

BTW, to get his tone, you need his hat too...

Did you buy one yet?

Use pickup position no.4 . And pick the notes about half an inch before the neck pickup.

That's the sweet spot.

cool hat! can buy at penin for cheap cheap price.. lol..
im not sure about yamaha selling danelectro fab chorus..
i've seen it there before last time.. but its been a while since i entered yamaha..
just one gripe about the fab chorus..
besides the lightweight build of it, powering the unit by a daisy chain/adaptor will produce a certain buzzing noise which can be irritating live.. plus, switching on the unit will incur a 'pop' sound as if you insert a lighted splint into a test tube of hydrogen.. lol.. adding some science to the daily live of softies! ;)
regarding the link i sent you, perhaps you wanna pop up their store and try all 4 of the suggestions given..

Honestly, the shimmering is because it's a single coil, played very loud, and on a twin speaker setup with some minor vibro or reverb... The chorus will kill the edge.

The 13s does add to it, but you got to hit the strings really hard. to get there... If you're not used to playing high gauges, then forget it, and stick to what you usually use. If you don't have a pau ferro boarded guitar, then apparently a maple will be the closest. RW is far off...

Of course, the hat helps...

Blackface amp, a Strat and a copious amount of 'verb should roughly get you there. The rest is up to you...
