MJT's finishes are very good (the colours are awesome) but I don't like the way they do weather checking on their guitars. doesn't look natural if you compare with the original vintage Fender Stratocaster. Still, the wood is top notch quality.

J.Custom: I paid around 1.2K

Relinquish: I decided not to get any finish checking, dont really like the look of it also

Actually you should have considered getting a relic neck and body from MonsterRelic. Slightly more expensive but their relic jobs are top notch. You can see some of their guitars at Guitar Connection.

http://www.monsterrelic.com/bodies.htm

matching it with the relic hardware brings the price up by quite a notch but you can have the option of just getting the neck and body.

I got the body and neck plus all the hardware for 1.2k, and i had options for the relic of the body and neck and choice of hardware, and the service of MJT is top notch

Actually the cool thing about MonsterRelic is that they actually make a new guitar look old by making it "dirty". I don't know how they do it but I like the way they dirty up a guitar. I've bought a relic body from them sometime back for reference sake & I was trying all sorts of methods to replicate such a job. I've tried coffee stains, cigarettes ash & even dirt from the floor but nothing comes close to what they do. the best part is, they keep getting better. compare their works 5 years ago and now is a whole world of difference. now that's what I can professional (although it's a dirty job haha!).

For MJT I prefer their colours. For MonsterRelic, their aging is by far the most natural. depends on what you want really. The wood that MJT and MonsterRelic use are usually Allparts so soundwise, I'm expecting the same thing. visually, I expect something else that's for sure.

All in all, I like em both.

Got this quite a while back. Took some pictures at the studio. Left it lying on my friend's OHSC for .

Scallop frets, brass nut, 70's style decal, bullet truss rod & more importantly, Olympic White!

Straying away from the Jackson thing but one thing remains the same, I still like jumbo frets! Got this guitar from a friend's friend. He had this tucked away for years. What a waste! Cleaned it up, set up and it was ready to go.

Scallops is something that needs time to get used to considering the fact that I'm such an aggressive player. Sharp notes come out like free for this guitar but it makes me more motivated to clean up my playing. It's great to find a guitar where you feel inspired to play. One more thing I like about scallops is the fact that bends feel so smooth.

Quite a rare guitar indeed. Fender Custom Edition on the back of the headstock. Though the price I paid was a tad bit expensive compared to other Japan made Stratocasters, this is definitely a good guitar to try scallop frets on without crossing the $2k mark. The saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Epiphone Sheraton
Fender Telecaster Fujigen Series
Ovation Applause

Coz I dont need and cant afford a freakin $5000/- guitar.

^ A fan of black guitars I see. Some Ibanez guitar players like myself are black guitar owners by default.

Yes I am a fan of black guitars =). At least those which I can afford =) (BTW love that Gibson Les Paul Custom that youve sold....too bad I cant afford it)

Black guitars --> Cmatmods Signa Drive --> Goosoniqueworx Seventheaven --> Line 6 M9 with exp pedal --> nice clean channel amp= LOVE
