nice Jackson there bro. MIJ? I recently went to Music Theme and saw a whole bunch of new Jackson guitars. pretty surprised that almost all of them are MIJ. I always thought the new ones were made in India or something (those I've seen at Swee Lee)

^ The Jackson looks awesome btw. why not bring it for a set up to see if it improves the overall playability.

It's not that. The guitar has been professionally set up and it plays well. It's the feel of the neck. It feels wider and longer than what I'm used to, and it doesn't help that my fingers are not super long...:(

Thanks man!! It is indeed very beautiful, it's a maple flame top with natural finish. I love to see the wood!! But no, it's made in US, imported it from there, and I think it will be the last time. It's better to have a feel of the guitar you're buying...

@pujangga and @Cavett: the kids are really cute! :D

Anyway, just acquired this from a guitar shop in Tokyo. Second hand 2002 Gibson Les Paul Custom 1968 reissue. The colour looks like cream to me, but i haven't checked with anyone what colour it is exactly.

It wasn't in a mint condition when i bought it. There is quite a big piece of paint chipped off at the back of the guitar. The previous owner must have been wearing spiked belt while playing it. There's also a little yellow stain at the neck. Wonder what it is though.

Tone wise it's really incredible. I couldn't let the looks of the guitar stop me from buying the guitar :p

That's a great attitude man, who cares about the looks as long as it's a tone monster.
And for the record, it looks great. That off-white colour is pleasing in it's own way.
Reminds me of the an old Japanese Greco custom that I used to own.
Beautiful block inlays too, and personally I might just remove the pickguard.
Paint chip and buckle-rash just adds to the character, as some may say and rightly so.
Now it's your turn to leave your mark on it, happy rocking out with this lovely guitar!

i've always wanted a Spector in a guitar manifestation. when Stuart Spector did this guitar, it was a sure acquisition for me.

Nice buy Subversion, gotta love the whole 'rounded' feel of the Spector. Looks dangerously curvaceous!

Hello everyone,

after much hem-and-hawing, the time has come! Plunged into the Heritage H137 with Lollar P90 pickups, a Honey Bee OD, and last but not least, the Dr Z Carmen Ghia.

The H137's appeal was its stripped down rock appeal and its killer tone. The Lollar P90s are really fantastic and gives such a raw, powerful old school 70s rock blast, especially when overdriven. The Honey Bee OD is my kind of overdrive, transparent and yet when pushed, gives a little raspy, crunchy tone. The Ghia...what to say...sounds brilliant clean or dirty. The power on tap is amazing. There's no hiding with this amp; any guitar's character will be revealed.

OD on o/d; comparing and dissecting each o/d effect. Man, I'm going have fun spending time with these fellas!

Hi man,

I use the compressor only during clean playing. The reason why I don't use it for powerchords or barres as it brings out the highs which I am not a fan of. If, however, you play mostly cleans or play lots of leads/solo/funk, I think this will bring out the whole spectrum of the strings. I don't know if this makes sense, but that's what I observe so far.

As they say, the compressor is a subtle effect, but you can hear the difference definitely. In terms of tone colouring, my observation is that the tone stays pretty much original. Oh, this pedal can be used as a clean booster pedal too, provided you turn the "Blend" knob all the way down.

I also observed from using the same guitar on 3 different amps, that depending on the amp, you may not need the compressor to bring out the notes. But if you're looking for a even spread of attack, then this compressor will be great for all amps.

Overall, this is a pedal that will stay on the board. Doesn't alter the tone, can bring out the notes that I've hit weakly and also act as a booster.

Hope this helps!

Hi gang,

thought I'd put in a good word about the Blackstar HT-1RH and the 4x8 cabinet. I bought the HT-1RH to replace the Blackstar HT-5s and also as an alternate to the powerful Dr Z, which is used exclusively only during earthly hours. So far, this little Blackstar is doing what I want; bedroom and night time playing volume levels with good overdriven tones. Initially undecided about a 1x12 or a 1x10 cabinet, but after hearing Ram demo the 4x8 cabinet, I was impressed with the response and "tightness" of it. So, here it is, complete with the Superlux headphones for playing through sleepless, jet-lagged nights.

Went to check out the Vox AC4TV and Lil' Night Train, but decided this was IT. :)
