zac89: You sure you did try to find any EBMM in Singapore? Sinamex is the dealer. And yes, their prices are steeper compared to if you bring it back from overseas. I think the extra price you pay for a EBMM from Sinamex is totally worth it though, top customer service.

Whether EBMM actually took out the cutaway because of JP's forearm is one thing. Honestly, you can't make a top with that kind of cutaway. so, for the BFR tops to work, the cutaway has to be removed. So that's the commercial bit to me. Whether this is true or not, we'll never know. BP is a salesman after all. never forget that.

But we do know that JP works out, and he might have put on a bit more bulk than we know. Which is why I wouldn't fully discount that reason either.

JP uses the BFRs only now? Well, do you see Steve Vai use the old JEM77BFP? or do you see him marketing whatever new JEM is released? I know he still plays Flo and Evo, but he does occasionally bring out others. He has to. Otherwise no one will believe he uses any of the new JEMs.

honestly, I wouldn't take too much of what EBMM says as gospel on their artists. It could be the truth, and it could be good PR work. One thing's for sure. We'll never know.

Sorry, don't know much about Steve Vai, never really cared for Ibanez anyway.

I was just stating the facts that JP is using his BFRs exclusively for the time being, and the design of the arm contour is because of his larger arm, of course the maple cap plays a big part too, the proto in SCORE looked kinda weird after a while. I don't really get what is all the fuss about the missing arm contour and whatnot though. JP was never paid to play EBMM guitars, he always had the choice of choosing whatever guitar he wants to bring/play, so there wasn't really any pressure for him to use the BFRs exclusively, he just loves it so much he wants to play it; if not, why aren't there a single regular JP in his guitar tour case? There are many backstage pictures taken by fans, VIPs, etc that shows his rig and guitars, not a single regular JP in sight.

Whatever floats your boat dude, you love the regular JP; I love the BFR JP.

Strat, nevermind what JP uses now or in the future. Doesnt really matter. We buy guitars for ourselves, so long as we find it comfortable playing them. Not as if I am buying a guitar and wait for the endorsee to come to my house to play it. Haha.

Totally. I got my BFR JP just because I love it, and it's one of the best guitars I've played so far. Even if JP stopped playing the BFRs, I'll still get them.

You just answered your own question. If you really believe what you just said, then good for you. I hope the world remains this dreamy for you for the rest of your life. :D

JP has mentioned this many times before in various interviews. He isn't a guitar collector. He doesn't keep stuff. He uses whatever is given to him, and makes do, as long as he has a need for it. :wink: Once he doesn't use them anymore (like his old JPMs), he gets rid of them.

When you reach that level of professionalism, endorsement and skill, you can play pretty much anything that's put in front of you. He can play better with a POS guitar, than I can with my own custom made specs.

Anyways, you've already said it. I dig the old JP6, you dig the BFRs. Live and let live man... Lets just enjoy our guitars. (P.S. What did you pay for your BFR?)

But I'm happy he designed the old JP. Otherwise I wouldn't have such a comfortable super strat to own... heh. The base guitar design is so well done, I just change the pickups to my own liking (The Air Norton and D Sonic are way too hot for my liking). THAT would become my favourite piece now.

Just some honest thought here bro, no problem!

When I acquired my 2nd EBMM - the AL, I dont bloody know who Albert Lee is :lol: But I am enjoying very single moment with it, yeah! Though I fancy the upcoming BFR AL, I too have to agree the price will gonna be steep man, not to mention the price quoted here. Tonal quality - not gonna be much diff lah. But gotto admit one do have to pay for additional cosmetic features - figured tops..

Btw, I think to really know bout JP, one gotto trace his root back to the time of the Ibanez JPMs. Choosing to ignore the earlier instruments he has employed and the influence his playing has on them, will not help you to understand or appreciate totally the design input of the later instruments we are talking about.

Honestly, I'm really quite curious about the AL. It looks strange, but is meant for a blues player. And Albert Lee is a damn good blues player... I'm dying to try one out myself, if I can find one.

I had a JPM90HAM previously. Sold it because I was getting over the shred phase, and I thought I could be satisfied with my RG1077XL on its own. The RG became simply too daunting to play (It's a 27" scale), and I becan hunting for another superstrat a few years later after accumulating some more strats. (Which I still love today...)

Thing is, I could never forget the Steve's Special tone and the 3 way, 4 pole switch the JPM had. The neck profile was good too, and I never found anything like it, though my Fender Japan 68 reissue is very close.

So, when I stumbled across this new JP6 mystic dream, I thought I'd give it a try. I was a bit disappointed with the tone, because I remembered the JPM to be very bright and crisp. This one is a bit muddy, due to the D Sonic, and I think the Neck pup was also wound to sound fatter than the Air Norton, which I'm not a big fan of. But that's easily remedied. What I really liked, was the forearm cutaway (damn comfortable), and the new neck profile. Felt like a thinner version of the old one, but not flat like a JEM. Close to a JS neck. The old neck was better for chording, while this new one was better for leads. But this guitar, being an EBMM, was ridiculously well made, and the Piezo was a nice refreshing addition.

Need I mention the Mystic Dream finish? heheheh...

All in all, I think the EBMM JP guitars are definately worth considering as a whole, just depending on which variation you prefer based on your personal needs.

well im currently in uni now, so maybe im a little bit older than you guys imagine me to be

im still waiting on my recto cab to arrive, i wanna a/b it with my marshall before deciding which one i would keep (though im pretty sure it would be the recto)

a few engl amps have some backlights just to make the amp look nice in the dark i guess... the real tubes are glowing in front.. although its much dimmer!
