oh and the JM strat is also kinda loosely based around the SRV strat.

same frets.. similiar neck shape, differing radius though... i prefer 9.5, only thing is that the JM strat neck may be ever so slightly thinner and wider. Nothing a few hours of playing wont work out anyway..

a nice touch is that that colour is limited. and the knobs have tonnes of mojo.

ive seen some nicely figured alder bodies.. but those are hardtail routed... will wait for "the one" ... might finish it myself as well.. shell pink shell pink shell pink... mmmm

your guitar is VERY similar to my first electric guitar!

it was a black 1996 Fender Traditional series strat, made in Mexico.
i changed the pickguard to tortoiseshell,
neck pup to Duncan little 59, middle pup stock, bridge pup to Duncan JB Jr.

man did i learn a lot on that guitar! sold it to a guy named Victor years ago.

i love the vintage reissues like the 57 and 62 , but the necks and frets put me off... so i ended up buying the ... "you know.. "

all i want is a strat, with a chunky neck (ala SRV neck shape), nice single coils, vintage 6screw trem, 5 springs and i want it in - Olympic white , Daphne blue, and..Shell Pink all finished in NITRO.
wah... erected. fantasizing to the max.

The 62 hot rod almost suit your description ley .. don't need to custom.

BTw the gold anodized pickguard thing... gets kinda irritating right? i put one on my old strat... my pinkie kept scrapping the pickguard... for the "chalkboard" feeling.

Hey fenderben.that strat is also a 1996!the neck pup is an sd lil 59 too!

yup the gold anodized aluminium pickguard feels rough when your nails scrape against it. but that seldom happens to me when i play, so i'm not bothered by it.
