I dunno how much finishing is needed to get that effect....but... is it just me or are guitars nowadays becoming less of a player and more of a showcase instrument?

i guess it depends thou. Some see guitar as art piece while some see it as an instrument that do music and some see it as signal generator.
Maybe certain manufacturers just wanna combine certain factors towards the instrument and cater to buyers who dont play but like to have. I think its pretty ok as long as one wanna slap, the other wanna received, its all good

why do i need to change pickups on my signal generators????

its an obsession man... the $$$ just needs to flow outwards.

coz you are a sensitive and caring man underneath all that tough image. We are the same, like many others. As long as the truth is within and we know it, its alright.

While playing might not be as much as last time, but the passion is still there, in a corner. Often neglected, but not forgotten.

but if you decide otherwise, let me pm you my acct number, i can ease your urge in directing the flow of cash towards me. Coz you still know it, that, i, can be thrusted. Like ernie and bert, doreamon and daxiong, or even the guitar, simon and patrick instead of samuel.

Yea, the gloss' too thick...like, it looks like it's meant to be showcased and not used to play...one scratch and the owner would be crying like a family lost.

man... right on the head man... the passion is in the corner.

I wanna play more guitar these days but like mrmisse I can't play for nuts...

Wait... I play for pistachios.

its juz some liquid tt removes the paint off the guitar la but keeping the wood intact. lol its deadly

won't thick laquering affect the tone? i know that it will cause acoustic guitar to sound bad and milky if the clear coating is over loaded.. will it happen on electric?

i thought the tone of an electric guitar is usually determined by the fretboard wood and the pickup? i mayb wrong here..

I tot the tone of an electric guitar was determined by the:-
1) Type of wood the Axe is made of
2) The PUPS used
3) The strings used (but i don tink strings affect ALOT as in an Obvious much)
4) The kind of cables used >>> EG: Connection & Patch cables
5) The way u rig up ur EFX

Den again i mite be wrong here too! but as far as i knw, these are some of the Essential one dat play apart in getting "The Tone". I think theres a few more left out rite?

Abt the Wood used for the Fretboard, im not really sure if it plays apart alot, but i do knw dat it plays apart in the "feel" when u play! also as in comfortablilty! Affects the Sustains too i assume, and the grade and type of wood also reflects the Quality too!

Pls correct me if im wrong! Thanx!
Cheers!

really?then china better not make cheapo electric guitars..in case they make the fretboard out of plastic!

actually... almost all the main parts of the guitar affect the way it sounds.
body (material,size,mass)
neck (material, joint type, size/mass, scale length)
fretboard
frets
nut
bridge (type,mass,material)
electronic components like pots
strings (guage, type of metal composition)
Pickups

i doubt tuners and strap buttons affect the tone...beyond my listening ability.

end of the day if you like the sound.. can already.
