sometime last year back i was interested in getting a fuzz pedal to cop some creamy eric johnson sounds. i got the seymour duncan tweak fuzz. IMO its a good fuzz starting point. check out the excellent review done by Subversion. It has quite a few classic sounds in it, from fuzz-face esque to Big-Muff type of sounds. don expect modern gain fuzz like muse though, But the TF will do Hendrix, early clapton, Santana, all these classic fuzz tones well.
However, the fun part begins when you start stacking it with other pedals and listen to how fuzz reacts to the various overdrives you stack it with. Its like a whole different dynamic ballpark, so to speak. i copped paul gilbert tone by using the TF on the most trebly setting and placing it before my OD, Queens of the stone age by stacking a TS before, and lastly, the elusive EJ sound by stacking it with a fulltone ocd(set to a slightly overdriven blackface setting) after the TF and a TS9dx before the TF to smoothen out the sound.
The TF does has its drawbacks though. It can sound rather plastic at times. and the volume and gain sometimes has to be above 3/4 to be a unity volume. I dint like that at all but most of the time i only use it for leads and its usually stacked with one of my overdrives. single note clarity could also be better, but thats the reason why i stack my overdrives in the first place.
My advice is to go out and try as many fuzz pedals as you can, and decide on what kinda sound are you going for. Rhythm or lead? Vintage or modern sounding? versatile or one trick pony(but does that one trick well)? These are some of the issues you'll face when you plan to get a fuzz. of course, if you;r hardcore enough you can get a few fuzz pedals for different voicings and needs. I find fuzzes tend be more varied and colourful in tonal palette compared to lets say, overdrive or distortion. Kinda like the variety you get in an all-you-can-eat buffet
Some fuzz pedals i'll recommend you to try out would be the fuzz face, tweak fuzz, skreddy screwdriver, Big Muff (russian or american versions also fine, or even the little big muff). Don just try the fuzz by itself, try it with some other overdrive pedals in the shop that would sound similar in your setup. Experiment with different combinations

Last but not least, have fun!
