FUZZ Addicts, over here!

Actually if you see in my first post, it's the same finish as my MKII. I designed it to be the same theme as my MKII, so when I take a picture of them both they would look uber sweet..

Gotta love treble boosters. Different from fuzzes but, same germanium transistor crap talk and blah blah. Mines a CV7112, military spec OC140.. Super sweet. I read D*A*M Red Roosters used this transistor. So fun to talk about these alphabets and numbers when I don't know anything about them HAH!! We are strange people, gearheads, that is, ESPECIALLY fuzz heads..

A treble booster into your DLS would sound REALLY sweet. Save the cash by not buying the Nord 70 and get one of these!!

Okay too soon to speak but yes, let the finish intruige you!

Didnt know that its the same, just knew it was similar. I love both the finishes anw haha.

Yeah although I didnt know it was a treble booster I loved how it sounded the 1st time I heard one, only found out later that it was a rangemaster.
Some of them use similar transistors but theres still lots of variables to consider. I myself don't know what the numbers mean when I say BC108 or NKT275 haha. Oh well, just act like you know can alr heh.

Hmm, sounds like a good idea.. Thinking of the BYOC one just to mess around with the kit.

I love the sound of combining an overdrive pedal in front of the muff. Damn smooth and thick lead tone - it's like a triple-shot expresso cafe latte! :-)

I finally recorded a cover to show how my tonebender MKII sounds like.. I sorely lack the whole Jeff Beck vibe and pardon the sloppy slide work. Not intending to get the actual tone, on the actual record he uses a MKI I think, and maybe a cocked wah?

Okay, amateur recording using free recording program Audacity, from my amp's line out! Not even mic'd up.

I used my LP. MKII into my Barber Half Gainer to simulate my tonebender going into a very slightly cranked amp. Slide solo was just my Barber Half Gainer. Oh and Skreddy Echo for slide solo, and very subtly for everything else..

Nice playing man. I liked the fuzzy and slightly spitty attack of the MKII at the beginning of notes. cool stuff.

Btw, I just got a new fuzz a couple of days ago.. A goose fudge73, probably the first fuzz pedal I've heard and the one that made me addicted to fuzz!

It's not so spitty and thick if I ran my mkII straight into a clean amp. Running it into a slightly cooking amp would a thicker more midrangey tone.. I prefer it that way, something like you shook me by Led Zep..

Isn't that a triangle muff? Big muffs are one fuzz I can't really like for some reason..

Hey wck, are you using low, medium or hgh output pickups? If you are using low output pu's, a treble booster like the Analogman Beano into a DLS(at rock mode), you may still find the gain lacking unless you switch to rawk mode. It's still a nice tone but if you are going for the Rory Gallagher vibe, you would need just a bit more output from your pickups. A nord 70 will still have more gain than the combination of Beano and DLS.

But if you are using med or high output, then let me be the one to buy the Nord 70. hahaha.

I think I'd prefer a less thick sound tho. More like a tele with an MKII, can be abit piercing sometimes tho.

Yup, triangle. Its my favourite for now, one of the few muff thats cut better. I think thats the case with muff type fuzzes, either love or hate em. Worst is the NYC, too scooped, big and noisy haha.

Edgie: Low vintage output pickups, the Nord 70 should give me enough gain for that. Nowadays I use the DLS for stacking with fuzzes only prefer it that way. If u want the Nord 70 then go ahead man, it'll take me some time to get it cos I'm getting an amp 1st. Finally got the funds for it ah?

I have yet to see my budget when I get my tax refund. Waiting in line of priority are Malcolm's Port City twelve, a fusion bag from tymc, and an El Cap at SV. On top of that, the house deposit on the new room I'll rent. So, I'm not so postive on the Nord 70 yet. Hopefully, I can move some of my stuff this holiday season so there'll be less cash out from me.

Ic, guess we're both not positive on it yet. Don't think it'll be gone by the time either one of us can get it tho haha. Too little demand.

Yeah, same here and since my pt-909 isnt going anywhere.. I've run out of modulation pedals to sell! haha.

Bumping this awesome thread with a pic of the fudge73 I got about a week back.

As of now, its the best muff I've ever played thru. Great for rhythm especially.

Heard a lot of good things about that Fudge. Maybe Gsonique should include this for alongside the 7th heaven as product offerings to expand his pedal line-up.

Haha, I asked him that same question before. It uses the same transistors as the skreddy mayo and theres a shortage of those, thats why the mayo was discontinued too. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

Hows the El Cap btw?

The El Cap's great though I haven't explored it fully yet as I've been busy. Maybe later I'll get to play more.

About the Fudge, good to hear that. Skreddy's discontinued pedals' prices are just way too crazy nowadays for what they do. I've had a pink flesh and a Mayo before which I got from trades and their value back then is just 300sgd. I let them go coz I'm not a Muff fan. Now I think they're at least worth 800usd.

Haha, good to hear its doing well so far. Seems like a fun pedal to play with but SV shd be out of stock..

Yeah, saw the pink flesh thread on TGP. Those are some crazy prices. I've seen the Mayo go for about 400+ USD normally, its still pretty inflated tho.
Did u see the Ram's Head that was sold for more than 2000USD? sick price.

Hey anyone here have tried the shiva fuzz that was featured on pro guitar shop recently?

Didn't really like how the demo sounded and I don't think that I can use the splattyness of it to its full potential. I'm not the splatty, glitchy and crazy fuzz kind of guy anw.

The Dwarfcraft pedals in general seems like they have some cool features but its kind of a novelty thing to me leh..

^ I thought the Eau Claire Thunder was amazing for what it did, it's based on a Russian muff and was huge and heavy. Great for stoner rock/metal stuff, plus who doesn't want footswitchable oscillation? :D I'd agree that his pedals cater to a specific niche though.

Yeah, thats the only part I liked (when he showed the smoother and more muff-y side of the fuzz)

The rest didnt come across as very usable but oscillation is always fun to play with :p

The Eu Claire Thunder seems more fun to play with tho haha.
