Free guitar amp simulator softwares, VST Plugins

I'm using XP. I'm not sure why but the previous attempts to record were fine, but when i plugged in tonight, there was just no sound coming out of my earphones even though the programme that there was some input signal coming in. I checked cables, volume knob, the were fine. Troubled...

hmm ok, for xp, should be able to have multiple audio apps running at same time and outputing audio,

Since mentioned that it was working before and not now, that prolly mean some application/setting is not done right or accidentally adjusted.

Troubleshoot it by isolating the applications start up and see which one is it thats causing problem or which ever setting thats wrong.

blueprintstudios: I wish I could have one, so unfortunately no, i'm not using one.:( If not i would have dled some software already.

PatheinRaindropMoe: hmm not really a computer techie, so i'm afraid i may screw things up if i do. I tried opening different softwares, eg Reaper and GuitarRig, but both have the same probs. Do you think it may be the settings on my com?

most of the time your sound card will be locked or focused to the daw when asio is being used And seems like you may have ran something or something is hogging your soundcard, therefore your daw/asio4all can't access it.so I asked iPhone because iTunes on my end tries to lock my soundcard when I'm charging the phone but it prompts errors cos my daw had the 1st priority.
What that means is if my daw is running iTunes or windows media player can't play.try run start>run>msconfig and temporarily disable whatevers running at the startup that might cause this.

Ah i see. I'll give it a shot. Thanks guys! I'll update you on what happens. So i should look out if iTunes or windows media player is running?

above got info on the exclusive control of the audio device in vista and win 7.

For info on asio4all where only one audio app can have access to it, try this below
http://mtippach.proboards.com/index...gbutthereisaproblem&action=display&thread=786

Another thing can check, go to the audio device properties in control panel or right click on the volume control in notification area, select the properties of the default playback device, go to advanced tab and check if the box for "allow application to take exclusive control of this device" has a tick or not. There should not be any tick.

For really really cannot solved problem(which shouldnot be the case), theres still this

Heh, hope aint too much. Anyway, as long as going to use pc for music production, even if not wanting to be computer techie, it will only benefit us by trial and error/googling to find out how to maximise our system or troubleshoot the problem. Most of the time, the problem we have, had all been answered or ask before elsewhere, just need to have patience to find those, read and try. Oh well, have fun along the way as well.

Oh yeah, if running audacity and geetar rig standalone(and not as a vst plugin in audacity), its considered 2 audio apps. One of the app might be taking exclusive control of the audio playback device in the comp.

I tried closing my iTunes and yeah it solved the problem. Damnit! didnt see that one.
Managed to get some decent sounds out of guitar rig but i have no idea how to work the recording part and how to overdub and stuff.

I've yet to try plugging in my pedals into Reaper though..

ai yo, dont ask for crack so openly lah. This one is not a torrent or warez forum. Its so easy to find cracks even just by googling. If you dont wanna do that, seriously, its not the right time to use those... I can only say, its all out there, including virus and properly cracked one, be it guitar rig or other software. If you cant find it on your own, then buy the real thing.

Within the demo installed, there should be manual or can be gotten from NI site, go through the manual and see how the racks work in guitar rig.

before pluggin in pedals to reaper, i would suggest getingt a proper audio interface and go through the recording faq done by bro blueprint. Theres many helpful info in there for a start. Without any amp/cabinet simulator vst within daw, the sound of pedals into computer, is just plain ugly. Not to mentioned, theres prolly impedance mismatch issue as well.

Oops. Sorry typical Singaporean here trying to save money whenever I can :p Hmm which audio interface would you recommend and roughly how much would it cost?

J.Custom : so i was right about the itunes? glad solved your problem.

anyway yeap please abide the usual music/audio global forum rule about no warez talks. this place isn't your personal blog/facebook/twitter update , I highly recommend you edit your post because you're just shooting a beacon in your foot to entities like BSA

what patheinraindropmoe has said is very true, the next I'm confident you'll be posting is how to reinstall your windows without losing your data or how do you remove a virus/trojan/worm which you got infected installing pirated softwares. so at your own personal risk yeah? have fun and make safe music.

Alright edited. Sorry about that, was not aware about the rules. Will take note of that from now on. Thanks for the help!

I just got Guitar Rig from Komplete 7 element. I would say you can just blindly buy guitar rig. Of cos, I am not delicate guitar player and not fond of getting too authentic about it. It sound like e.guitar, distorted guitar, amp or whatever you put. Plus not that hard to get the tone right and decent. However, you want sound from brand A effect with brand B pedal with brand C amp. Virtually it will not exist. Guitar Rig 4 with US$99 that not big price to play. Plus there so many effect to play with. Sh*t I need to spend time to understand the new toy I got.

how do i get a sound out?

hi..
i happened to read all these and was interested so i tried all the stuff but my pc just doesnt pick up the sound from the guitar. i heard you need a additional plugin. you cant just go straight in from the guitar to the audio card of the pc. if you guys can do share ya??

thank you!

If you managed to plug your guitar into your PC sound card(mic/line in), you should able to received sign from it. I think there is a very simple recording app in window. Run it and see you are able to record from it. Of cos, the sound is not what you want but you will know it is working or not. Do launch the Sound Device icon or volume icon to check the inputs are not mute or not. Nowadays, audio driver come with beautiful GUI to control the soundcard, do check that out too. When you plug in a mic or line device or any I/O device, it will pop out a GUI for some soundcard.

hey

i am using an acer laptop.. plugged into realtek high definition audio. there isnt a sound at all :(. Using vista and the control panel which i went into had this sound thing which i could see the level of the sound coming in and there was not even a single sound coming out.. haha strummed the guitar like mad...
thank you for the help man

If I'm remember, without running any software. You will not hear the input even it is unmuted. I think realtek also have GUI interface so that you can route the input to output. I'm not sure how, but it is possible. Cos, I saw people karako with it with tranpose key function. Hope someone can assist you cos I' m using Mac all the time and seldom need to touch on PC.

Stormbringz: what audio software are you using to record? I can help you definitely as my ex-intern recorded via the same conditions but I need you to help me by giving me details to help you for sure. Cheers and look forward to my good news.
