Hey Soft-ies!

If You Click On This Thread,

CONGRATULATION!!!!

YOU ARE BORED!!!

Anw,

This Is Just A Little Scenario/Question That Had Just Poop Up In My Head (I Was Bored).
It's About What Would You Feel, Do, Think Of Yourself.

Imagine You're A Guy Name "John"

You're A Normal Average Person, That Is Not Rich Nor Poor. That Is Playing Guitar In A Band.

He Can't Afford Guitars Like Gibson, Epiphone, Schecter, Ibanez, Fender etc.

But He Can Afford Guitars Like TGM, SX, J&D etc.

(His Price Range Would Be Below $500)

He Has A J&D Les Paul,Cort X-2,SX SG & TGM Strat.

His Band-Mates Are Also The Same, Their Gears Are Low-End.

He Does Not Believe In 2nd Hand Products. And Boycott It All The Way.

One Day,
His Band Was Selected In A HUGE Gig.

Before The Gig, His Band Was Warming Up In Their Holding Room.

Til They Saw Many Other Band Walking Pass Their Holding Room.
(The Other Band Are Also Performing)

All Of Them Has Top-End Equipment In Their Hands.

Only John's Band Has "Budget" Equipment.

His Band's Performance Is Soon, And They Can Choose If They Would Want To Perform Or Not.

Put Yourself In John's Shoes.

What Will You Do?

Do Not Perform And Waste Your Hard Work So That You Wont "Pai Seh" Yourself In Front Of A HUGE Audience.

OR

Just Perform, Let Your Talent Out And Do Not Care Of What People Think Of Your Band And What You Use.

Tell Us/Me What You Think.

Plz, PLZ Tell Honestly As I Do Not Want Young Musicians To Lose Their Courage Just Because Of The Type Of Equipment They Are Using.

Thank You! :)

I think you'll only be 'pai seh' when you're taking a Gibson/Ibanez Jcustom/MusicMan etc etc and playing like shit.

just play!!! who cares if you have a gibson but if you play like shit. so what, if you play a sx,tgm. if you play and have fun and if it comes straight from your heart. you can show what playing music is all about

if you see the bands that performed at baybeats, not all of them were using so-called "good" equipments what..

some were using Epiphones and such, but did that make them bad?

in fact, i think if you are able to sound good on shitty gear, makes you all the better a player doesnt it.

though of course i think that if one were to have good gear, then all the more motivated he or she would be to play hard and strive to be good at it.

If I have a really cheap strat copy now, and I have to gig with it, I would use it. And at the end of the show, smash it. The effect is way better right? Haha.

is this even a moral question?
if i chose to walk of the stage, i'm not a musician at all. being concerned about how you look on stage should be the last thing a musician does. (it depends on the crowd though..)
kids my age are owning stuff like prses, fenders and high end stuff AND lots of effects AND switching all of it CONSTANTLY. yet it is the 40 year old uncle playing his trusted mid-range ibanez night after night, covering a variety of genres, and earning a pay just enough to support himself.

gear doesnt determine the musician honestly.

come on dude,

i've seen a band play on stage and get this, the have guitars like fenders and gibsons. . .
to top it off, each of the guitarist plus bassist are using effects pedals like ard 9 efx per person! and these efx are like those boutique ones, high-end. when they set up, everyone was anticipating what great music wud come out from these players. .

but when they play, it was crap. . the bassist didnt even stepped on any of the efx i think. im not saying they played bad, but the efx and their high end axes don't do them justice, or rather, they dont do their equipment any justice.

itz not a matter of what brand/quality equipment u play, itz ur skills that will take over on stage. they can have expensive guitars and high end boutique pedals coz they can afford it or maybe their parents bought it for them. itz just for show. . . if ur good, no one wud care what brand u use.

and the way you rock the stage. like Jimmy Page.

A good guitar is a good guitar no matter what. It boils down to whether you're confident in your equipment. As long as you're confident in your equipment, you're set to go. You don't need to bother about what gear the other bands are using.

What??? are you kiddin?

What does having low end gear have to do with performing?
i will proudly play the Shyt outta those low end guitars and put on a show~

xfigox said it best~

honestly speaking,

i would rather someone say,

"His equipment don't do justice to his playing".
rather than
"His playing don't do justice to his equipment".

haha. musicians make music out of everything~ it aint the price, it's about sounding nice!

my verdict.
