the EQ users profile here is interesting; some swear by it, some believe it's the ultimate voicing enhancer while others can absolutely live without one...

do you have any use for an EQ pedal? why/ why not? what would you recommend to others?

Hmm.

I use mine to clean up, add shimmer to the top end and add oomph to the bottom end of my Pathfinder which lacks a mid-range knob. ALso very useful because I need not add some gizmo to give me that sound in the intro to "I Believe In A Thing Called Love": I just switch the EQ off, an activate it the moment the rest of the band kicks in.

i use it to boost my highs and take out some mids and to boost the overall volume so that the solo cuts through.

its suppose to make ur stock ge7 quieter and enhance the sound of every slider.

It's a must for me. So much so that I have 2 EQ's on my board, GE-7 pre dirt pedal and Barb E.Q. post dirt pedal.

I've had few problems with amp EQ, and I can always use my pickup selector/tone knob on the guitar.

I don't seek to emulate other people's sound, I just go for what I find fitting for each song, so I typically don't need one.

not for me either. dirt pedals with a simple eq control like the OCD or eternity is good enough tone shaping for me.

I'm using the artec 8 band eq for more crunch, clarity and definition, imo very important when you're playing clean. On top of that i'm using it as a volume booster.

its kinda like a swiss army knife to me.

One thing about EQ's is that when you have it pre dirt pedal i.e. first pedal in your chain, it's as if you can switch pickups on the fly using the EQ to emulate a certain pickup frequency response.

Like scooping the mids to emulate a big dipper pickup, a tubescreamer next in the chain to fill in your mids so now the innate mid boost is tamed and not overwhelming.

i use 2 a boss GE-7 and MXR 10-band...i use the MXR to giv me a volume boost when i split my coils and add treble to giv me a real a sound as a single coil guitar and the GE-7 is used to boost my bass and a volume boost or jus make my sound bigger soundin for loud parts
