I use an A/B Looper, Guvnor(built in 4band eq) in one loop, and an EQ for another loop. So that i can still get my sound when i'mnot using my own amp, eg studio.
My take on the need of Eq pedals in one's setup is both yes and no. Some players have a need for them for tonal shaping purposes and some have them for boosting drives and amps and some simply combine tone shaping and drive characteristics that an EQ pedal can offer in one's setup.
Paul Gilbert if you've spotted one of his pedal board pics uses the GE7 based on what I saw the slider positions to dial in a more Stratish type of guitar character from his humbuckers.
Yes having used them and experimented with them stock and otherwise I do have mods for these popular GE7s for different needs for Gtrs and Basses. The mods address the most common complaint of all NOISE!
The next step up is the personalizing of the individual frequency bands to make them more effective in each slider's tonal sweep.
Email me if you need to make a more detailed and personal enquiry about mods for the GE7. Please do include your guitar rig setup incld Gtr,Pups and Amp. Send me a pic or 2 of your pedals cos that helps alot ya.
