I'm soooo u$^*% mad!

In short, this is whats gonna happen....

".... required to attend a 02 full-day training course and they are conducted on your off-days. You will not be compensated for your time for attending these training sessions (no time-off, allowances etc). If you dont attend, you will be reprimanded and penalties imposed."

What do you call this %^*%9 style of management?
What recourse does one have in this matter anyway?

Thats just how things are communicated by the powers that be around here.
No respect and no courtesy to the staff.

"We are your bosses and as our slaves, you will obey our commands"

'Thuggish' sort of way in getting things done too (threats, challenges, fines...)

this is unacceptable.
Make a stand. don't go. if they wanna kick a fuss, escalate this to MOM. U shld not fear bcos they are the ones who've gone too far.
if MOM decides to whip them into shape, u are making things better for all their future employees.

Eh... I cant say which company lah but its a well known establishment.
My arse will be burnt if this gets out!

Anyway, our immediate superior is fighting this too.
And shes only been here less than a month!
She is oso &*(*&() pissed off.

K2desoog, do you feel that you will benefit from such training?

The reason why company sends staff for training is because they foresee something different happening in the scope of work. If you do not get the proper training, you will be 'unsuitable' for the work.

We are like computers, need to 'upgrade' constantly. Cannot keep running Intel 486.

Most of us studied primary, secondary + some tertiary before getting that job. What is 2 more days of your time to KEEP that job?

Do you love your job? If yesh, 2 days is not much, really. Actually, it also depends on what kind of training we're talking about lah. =)

You gotta fight for it,i feel.Your off days are precious anyway and these ppl certainly do not respect that

it's the government's fault, because of government policy, employers can claim benefits if they send workers for training. there is always the option to quit your job.

This training will NOT be beneficial to me. At least not here. Due to the nature of our department, we are instructed to be discreet and refrain in this area of work. A declaration was also signed for this. To this day the instruction still stands. And you know what; I fully understand their ‘paranoia’!

Moreover, I have gone through a similar (if not better) course and passed with flying colours. My qualifications and experiences speak for themselves and I do not need to prove this again.

Public perception of this organisation is first-rate. However, looking ‘inside’, it reflects otherwise. It’s a calculative, nit-picking, manipulative, tacky, fear-mongering environment. Everything counts. ....if you knock-off ½ hour earlier to attend to a summons; they tell you must apply for ½ day leave.

And don’t get me started on the pay package. LOLz.

Turnover is very high too. Most stay on because they can’t afford to pay the cost of ending their contract earlier (like me)

So if they wanna count, I’ll take out my BIG calculator
