Dress sense.

Talk about bands and their dressing here.

I really can't stand it when I go to a gig and I see all the musicians in a band wearing black shirts that proclaim other band's names, especially the common metal bands like Slayer, Metallica, Iron Maiden, or punk/grunge/hard rock bands like Nirvana, Guns N Roses, Sex Pistols, etc.

Also shirts that proclaim Fender, Marshall, Zildijian, Gibson, so on and so forth.

I find that it detracts from the presence of the band. To me, it makes it seem like you're trying to be another band rather than be yourself. I get the impression that you want to be as cool as these bands, or be seen as a "lil' Slash, lil' Kurt Cobain" rather than establish your own identity as to who you are.

This only really applies for new and unheard of bands lah. If you already have established your band's identity and you want to pay homage to another musician by wearing his shirt I suppose that's okay (I've seen Ronin perform with Derryn or Levan wearing KISS and ACDC) shirts.

Your thoughts?

Hmm maybe its their personal preference or rather they got not much variety of clothings to wear? Let's not condemn their dress sense :) We should respect them!!

interesting thought
so u mean that established bands like only ronin can wear such shirts to pay homage to other musicians ? 8)

Yeah, why only established bands can wear such shirts?

haha for me i have bad dress sense so its really killing me just by thinking of what to wear just before a gig ...... but anyway dressing is like music, someone's tea may be someone's poison haa, cant please everybody

the person who started must be a loser. i think he no cash to buy all these shirts.... he's jealous of them... seriously ppl can wear wat they want. they wear shirts wif band names on them to show their respect and liking for the band...

precisely. As long the band plays well, who cares what they wear ( not the extent of wearing singlets and slippers though)

i just find it a little unimaginative. it's the kind of thing that doesn't require much thought in presentation and doesn't display any semblance of personality.

i have nothing against it though.

like i said, the person who started this, visa i think, must be a loser. he likes to walk arnd naked and is jealous of ppl who have shirts wif band names on it.

wah not loser la, visa just 7 posts only, should encourage him to post more ma, we are all friendly people here. 8)

good one lalala ! that's the Spirit of SOFT.

For those of you who are thinking why me always wearing the same SOFT t-shirt, I have alot of them ok, I wash and wear different ones everyday.

* this messege is specially for the B-Quartet dude who saw me yesterday outside my house! ha..ha..ha.. hey, come to think of it, you were wearin a very familiar looking t-shirt too!

id like to play a set naked.

and actually have ppl clapping and girls fighting to get on stage to see whats behind my guitar.

hey, i improved already ok. i used to have only black t-shirts. now the SOFT t-shirt are black with alot of color in front. 8)

alot of big shots have seen this SOFT t-shirt ok. during national day, i wore it to shake hands with pm and some ministers.

actually, the SOFT t-shirt also serve another purpose. you know when i ask some mega musicians to say a few words into the video camera, I just point to the t-shirt I am wearing and they will say, "You are watching SOFT.com.sg - It's Music in Singapore!"

good leh!

wah, power. so THE T-SHIRT serves an important strategic role. We need to type it in caps from now on.
funny thought that the PM might know about this website, heh.
