Dress sense.

ahh now that, made more sense. instead of just the attire and stuff like that.

charm and presence. i dont know. i've yet to grasp the whole 'presence' thing.

Don't judge people by what they are wearing. Ever.
Its true though waht you say - bands can at professional, and become better performers

While it's not nice to judge people by what they wear, we will always make subconscious first impressions. By wearing appropriate attire, you can affirm the image you're trying to give off.

What do you mean by "yet to grasp"? You mean developing presence as a performer, or understanding the concept of presence?

Presence is presence, it's the difference between a performer that can work the crowd and a musician standing in the corner looking down at his instrument, completely oblivious to the world.

we should all agree that the music is above all, no matter what.

but when you have several performers of the same calibre, how you carry yourself, how you work the crowd, what image you build for yourself and how you use it all can help make you a better PERFORMER and that in my opinion, makes you a better band.
but nowadays no matter how good or freaking goo your music, u got no image, then just keep it to ur own hobby la.. dont dream to go anywhere.

what people looking for is something different in you, everyone play a good music..

and btw this is not in the 80's where good music come first. now 2005 already... image come first. (this apply to asian lah mostly, sad...)

okay lah if dress doesnt count, why dont the metal people wear pink when playing metal?

dress doesnt count what....!!! just wear anything lah.... why pink cannot must black only why? dress doesnt count mah!! shit..puiii.

i angry siul...

guy wearing a pink tank top?? I'd say he's a very confident guy to wear sth like that, lol.
And seriously...we all know the music comes first but at the same time you can't say that the way the performers are dressed doesn't matter at all. Granted an absolutely brilliant band would dazzle the crowd even if they were in their pajama's but most bands won't be able to give a perfect, brilliant performance right? so putting a little thought into the wardrobe (note, not agonize over what to wear and not practice, but put a little thought into) and it helps! pple take you more seriously!

For me, the appropriate stagewear is just T-shirt and jeans. But you wouldnt wanna go into Hair metal costume right? I think wearing a band t-shirt is perfectly alright unless the whole group wears the same band shirt and they played songs from the same band. Now thats what you call stealing identity!
