Hey people.
Just asking does Crunchbox go well With Zakk Wylde Overdrive ? I tried Crunchbox with MXR GT- OD din sound quite what I wanted. I need a heavy distortion tone with fat palm-muting. Share your views :)

P.S what are the EQ settings for songs like "Megadeth - In My Darkest Hour".

Just change all to 'am' ...

Too much gain kiddo ...just too much !!
MXR GT
vol > 1 o'clock
gain < 11 o'clock

Oh , How to change to AM? HAHA Constructive advice lah !
For the MXR GT-OD , wad is the tone settings?
And include Crunchbox Settings too :)

imho

no one in the right mind and having a slight understanding of the differences in various amp when used with certain pedals, taking into consideration of how each and everyone of us hear sound differently can give you a "confirmed" setting that will be what you wanted it to be

1) Even with the same setting on the pedals you stated, when used with different amp, will have different characteristic.

2) We are not sure what amp you are using and even if we knew, it still doesnt changed the fact that whatever eq setting it is on, we will hear it differently

3) if it sounds good to you, then stick with it and play more

4) EQ setting, without taking into consideration of amp, effect, geetar etc, is no longer a valid question that will have a "confirmed" answer.

Haha. Yeah I'm fully aware of that. I'm just asking for some settings suggestions , maybe I try em out they may sound good :)

heh, let talk about pedal psychology.

If we have the pedal in hand and having all the time to try out all sort of setting, but yet we didnt and instead hoping others having some special setting on the pedals which we have it in hand as well.

Are we buying into the words and psychology aspect of "setting of pedal" or that when we are on our own, with those pedal and tweaking, lacking the judgement in learning to listen on all the nuances of effect pedal tweaking.

Anyway, imho and not meant to offence. I cant stress enough on the idea of listening to what we can do and have in hand more then buying into an "imaginary setting" which we can have as well, in the first place, if we learn to tweak and listen more.

Once again, imho

right on pathein. the crunchbox only has three knobs and one of them is just a volume. try turning them.

I had very good results with my Bad Monkey or TS-9

Crunchbox

Level: set to taste
Tone: 11 o'clock
Gain: 1 o'clock

Bad Monkey
Level: Maximum
Bass: 2 o'clock
Treble: 3 o'clock
Gain: 0

= rock

What amp are you using?

Imho, you cant really get bona fide metal tones from a crunchbox....maybe with a 4x12 stack eq-ed properly, you'll get there but dont expect miracles. The mid range honk and bass cut on the CB isnt exactly suited for speed metal stuff. Maybe at most hard rock.

stacked both CB and GTOD also.didnt really like the tones leh,so both removed.

Vintage OD-1 anyone?delicious.

ya these two pedals can't blend well together. I went to G77 in penin and asked rui and he said that cb doesn't go well with gt-od. Haha. And Patheinraindropmoe , chill . Yea I get your point. Personal experience by playing around and tweaking the pedals is very beneficial. Thanks for your advice :)

Mid Range? Bass Cut?

I never encounter that with my setup... In fact, mine has tons of BASS that i can play almost play METAL... though I heavily tweaked my internal trimpot with my taste.

EDIT: and yeah... you also need to properly tweak your Amp's EQ. I will try to find a recording with the CB ......

I find the crunchbox tends to cut alot of bass...with its tonestack. Unless you have a bass heavy amp....it can even sound nasal and thin.

so... a good amp is again part of the equation!

might as well just get a kickass jcm800 and tweak close to zakk wylde's tone.should be able to get close without having high gain pedals or anything.

1)i dont think the TS wants zakk wylde tones just because he has the zakk wylde od

2)JCM800 ?very cheap huh(...)

3)No one can sound like zakk wylde lah dey,or even any other artist..

yeah I'm not really looking for zakk wylde tone. I just traded my od for the zakk wylde one in search of different tones. Just goofing around with pedals.

I'm currently using a Kramer Striker Custom Floyd Rose 424CM Humbucker-Single-Humbucker Pickups. Pickups are stock ( Single Rails and Quad Rails )
I run it into a Peavey Rage 158 (transtube series) 15 Watts Amp. For AMP EQ I boost the bass and treble cutting the mids.
