sad.
that time i went t have a look at my friend's band jam.
they had anothr friend, a girl, whom i don't know.
thn after that th whole thing. she said.
"I think the bass too loud."

chester277: as long as it's nicely balanced, dont give a damn to other people comments, sometimes those comments are made by people that -sorry to say- have crappy ear,but if more than 2 or more people say the same thing,it means that you have to do something bout it

it's only my lead guitarist. he likes to take the big smarvo amp and turn the volume to 3~4 o clock, while my volume will be at 11 (which is perfect for the band) and the rhythm guitar's line6 amp will be at 3 o clock (perfectly audible). his (lead guitar) amp will always drown us out. he always wants to be heard the most. what can i say... i always tell him to match the rhythm guitar's volume but he is so adamant abt being the loudest. :?

ask him screw himself first then talk. this kind,
fogive my harsh words,
are ego-stic.
i personally have been to friend's jamming before.
and things really gets worse.
maybe u shld talk with the other band members.

hohoho, dude, that's one big headed mofo,as far as i've noticed the pro bands playing, the lead guitar usually use volume pedal and make the volume louder during solo time,so the guitar sound wont be overpowered by the music...you should give some kick on your lead guitar's ass man, anything that's too loud wont be good for the music sia

It's not about who's louder than who, different bands have different mixes. gotta make sure your B(ig)ass doesn't drown the others out, and if your playing is good it should naturally stand out from the other instruments (how low can you go! how low can you go!)

lol i can go real low!! lol for playing at only 1 gig i was average volume i sort of did stand out a lil

haha.. cool.. 'lowness' is one thing, but as crispyegg said, its also about the soundman, the mix and the music itself. arrangement, the band of sound that your bass is covering is not too full, balancing the instrument so it 'cuts thru' the mix and things like that... :)

Chester, next time when your lead guitarist play you guys just stop and let him shine through with his loud lead , you guys just go for a drink, since he want to shine through in the band

Bro, no offense, but some of the folks here not legal to drink yet lah.

let me rephrase that sentence, go for a break, have a Kit Kat. I think most people think playing the bass is easy, 4 string only just play root note, that's all, so bass not important la. Hide him in the background , give him a lousy amp , no need to sound check, cannot hear never mind , singer and lead guitar can hear ok already. So bass player must stand up and show other musician that bass is just as good or important in a band .

cheers
