I'd tell her to 'practise what you preach.' And not to scream at me just because she's frustrated. I'd ask her if that's what she's teaching me. And then she'll use her bloody golden line. Again.
It's rather ironic.

A remark like that would have earned a tight slap across the face from my mother. Mind u i am only older by a few years.

Wait till u tell ur sergeant that u dun wanna lights out at 11.

Lookat it this way. kids hardly spend enough time with their families. By having this curfew, u get to do just that. Before u noe it u will be 21 and outta the house.

So true.

I guess when we turn older we get wiser about things like that. It's funny when we're young, we are just blind to everything..thankfully I haven't done anything I regret.

IMO, it's okay with the curfew.
because people my age won't be on the streets after 11 pm, so i dont hafta envy them.
but then , it all doesn't even matter, coz i'm turning 17, have freedom after 11pm. but heck! my mates are still like... 15? 16? NOT FAIRRR.

but as most of u guys said, singapore's a safe country. yeh, in a way true. but what about those trouble that remains unknown to those around?

it really depends on some coppers. some are kind enough to let u go ... (psst, i'm an underaged smoker..hahaks). but as for this 11pm thing, there's the pros n cons lor. but really, its like the friggin bois in blue is kinda poking their noses into what we're doing.

whereas there's good coppers, dont forget the bad ones. argh~ got scolded for nothing by them when kena screened..

they're just trying to make sure that youths under 17 don't go astray because anything can happen in the still of the night. especially those 'black societies' that still exist, got nothing to do except to pick on 'vulnerable' people.

but when youths don't behave properly & juvenile crimes are increasing, parents blame who? government & the education system right. unfortunately these kind of parents never look into their own child's situation and see what's gone wrong.

but hey, IT DOESN'T KILL TO BE AT HOME AFTER 11 PM! you won't DIE. =)

i think its stuupid..the police should not
control curfew, thats up to the parents man..
DISCIPLINE UR CHILDREN..

aiya.but its true la.tink about it. all the ah bengs and ah lians below 18 running around town late at night and skipping skol.its a prob and they're trying to fix it.so cut the govenment some slack.ha.aiya when u stop schooling then no more complains.

aiyar, its not like they're gonna book you for the night or something.
the cops are just gonna take down your particulars and send a letter to your parents.(from what i read in the article)
even if the cops want to send you home, hey, you get a free ride, in a cop car.
so, i dun think think the curfew is a bad idea. prevent crimes committed by minors and also keep the minors away from bad company. jengters.

+1. Not everyone under 17 is a dickhead causing trouble. Besides, if they are runts at 17 and you keep em inside = arguments with their parents, so so as soon as they hit the 'above curfew' age, they go out and unleash chaos still.

if they do, it is only because they do not vent their fustrations through healthy outlets like hardcore and metal music. :D

I don think it's an all out curfew.. just that if u're under 18 n out at night they'll take down ur name n let ur parents know after that.. but they won't force u to go home or prevent u from going out at night..

n also i don think it's purely becos they think youths r causing trouble.. they don want youths to get into trouble or being victims of criminals at night..

another thing, how often do u run into cops at night? implementing is one thing, enforcing is another.. i don think they'll suddenly increase the number of patrols n set up road block everywhere..

if they really prevent u all from going out at night, u all won't be the only ones complaining.. all the kopitiams, mcdonalds, cybercafe etc will vomit blood with u all..

my take is that it is the parents' responsibility for their own kids.

Why spoonfeed the parents?

+1001

If a parent takes care of the child, disciplines the child when he needs to be disciplined....

When the child grows up good. That is a blessing on the family.
When the child grows up bad? The onus is no longer on the parents. They have done their part.

If a parent DOES NOT take care of the child, DOES NOT discipline the child when he needs to be disciplined....

When the child grows up good. Thats nice but hardly the case isn't it?
When the child grows up bad? Blood is on their hands.

But anyway, in our society, its.... impossible, almost impossible to get the parents to do something.

It seems that they are punishing the entire under-18 demographic for the actions of a small faction of them. Anybody wanna guess what will happen to the entire demographic when said faction decides to rebel againts the curfew?
