Probably.
Parents' expectation are often pretty absurd. They expect you be to exemplary while they themselves are never close to being so.
When my mother realises that she's lost the argument, I'd always hear her say, "It doesn't matter if I'm right, or wrong. I am your mother. You should never speak to me in that manner." Or something in that vein. That's her golden line, albeit grossly cliched.
I'd tell her to 'practise what you preach.' And not to scream at me just because she's frustrated. I'd ask her if that's what she's teaching me. And then she'll use her bloody golden line. Again.
It's rather ironic. But sometimes, we just have to understand that they, like us, are human too. And that they simply want the best from and for us.
