Cost of a decent refretting job on a maple neck

You can get a good job for $200, or so I have heard. Not experienced, so wouldn't recommend. You have seen and heard and experienced, do recommend. I wouldn't. I can't, can I?

If you haven't experienced any of that, then there is no point of comparison is there? I understand you've experienced the Malcolm 'treatment' and indubitably, he is one of the best. However, if my action is medium to low, I don't need my fret ends perfectly rounded. A little sharp edge is fine as long as it doesn't cut. Let's say you fall into this category of player, a lot of shops would be able to attend to your needs. Sinamex, Guitar Connection, G77, Luther and even Maestro can do a good job and prices probably vary amongst them. Sinamex probably being the costlier option.

Of course if you think that you have to play with 1mm action, then by all means go to whoever can do that! how many people play with 1mm action at their 12 fret? I want my guitar to feel like wood, not butter. Cheers

I've also ask KC(nick here Kai Chin)

I think his nick here on soft is KayCee. his prices are very reasonable. I recommended my friend to have his guitar nut checked by KC not too long ago.

No. Low E side for mine. Top of 12th fret to bottom of lo E string, 0.42 guage.

Not many people like low action, most do the medium action thing...

i may need your help soon.

Got a gretsch synchromatic baritone with an ill fitting nut. Been wanting to get it done for ages but always put on the back burner for the reason of... who play guitars anyway, I just like to buy em and buy em cheap!

Be in touch soon.

It's still strange how the gigging pros can do with a 200 dollar fret job and the weekend SOFT warriors who spend their time figuring out what to put in OM need a 500 dollar refret. A 200 dollar refret is like a boss pedal - a functional workhorse- , a 500 dollar refret is probably like a Skreddy. Both have their place. Cheers

interesting eh?
coffeeshop kopi-O vs starbucks ex-pensive-presso.
cheepskates vs irrational spenders
who is right and who is wrong
who is right and who is left
who has left and who is still here
who is here and who is there
oh wat the ...* , my post make no sense, but so does yours.

Sure just give me a call man and we'll synchronise systematically :p And I finally figured out your obsession with nuts man. Just look at your avatar pic, kah kui kui, tarn tua lui!

AY, here's the report:

Stayed at Swissotel Le Concorde at Ratchaphisek Rd. Poseidon is NEXT door!

Touched down at Suvarnambhumi Airport. Fooking journey from the airport to the hotel took me 75 mins. Knn. Kena jam here, there and everywhere. Reached hotel, checked in, settled down. Took the MRT to Fortune Town to look at the axes. After a 2 hour massage then felt hungry.... went back to the hotel and they had a nice seafood (open air) restaurant called Kwang Seafood just 30m walk from the hotel. Order fried oysters, a small steamed fish. Tiger beer promoter was like a beauty queen, so I ordered a bottle. Chatted with her and asked her if she'd like to go out after her work, she said ok! She gave me her mobile (which I still have) and asked me to call her.

I went about dinner giving her the 'eye'. She kept coming over to my table to top up the fooking beer. (That's fooking good service!) No choice, had to order another bottle!

To be continued ..........

First, you recommend Malcolm to nearly every threadstarter who needs help on their guitar.

TRUNCATED

The man's like an advertisement, good or bad, you decide la. Follow the recommendations and you be shredcow ver.2.0

man this audiophile dude is seriously i dunno what to say. going around forums bashing at people after that leaving their accounts behind when theyre done with their PMSing

he kacau my sales thread on another forum with some really cheesy excuse like oh order from overseas got so much cheaper and he didnt even get the transfer rate correct.

eugen3, don't bother. :) Remember, its an online facade that gives strength! "Wizard of Oz" syndrome.

This thread has concluded with a very simple statement, need something functional (no need perfectly rounded fret ends, don't mind a little sharp edge, etc etc) then go for the shops mentioned, else, pay a premium and go for that someone else.

Other than that, its opinions and people bashing.

lol this is some crazy thread.

peace people...
