chip offs

wah.. yesterday bring my axe to jam then put on chair and it fell off..
thought got bag got protection wont have problem but when i reached home i checked theres a chip off.. heart pain sia..

should i bring it for a spray/paint job?
is it worth it?
and if i wanna do that where do i go to, which shop is recommended?

and btw, if i color with black marker lol..
will this give a problem when i request for a spray/paint job?
like do they need to remove the black marker lines before spraying or something?

or else i can color using marker for the time being, to cover up..

i don't think it'll affect much afterall i think gotta do some sanding and wood fill den spray over.

Paste duct tape over it if you don't mind...but it also depends where your chip is...if it's in the centre of the body or something, I'd probably paste a stickie...

No and No!

Its just a chip...

And besides, you want a spray job, a proper spray job where the origianl paint is stripped off then repainted over? That will cost.

If you want to be lazy, or go to a bad painter, adding another layer of paint over your guitar without stripping, you are sucking more tone out of your axe, deadening the guitar with thick coats of paint.

My chip off is near the jack output.
It fell right off the chair landed on her ka cheng.

wah very heart pain, my lao puo injured...

Don't dude! Even if you try to patch up the colour, it still won't look the same, and may even look worse!

Trust Shredcow and RazrAsh, just leave it there...if you're a hard player, and your guitar goes places, it'll definitely sustain damage.

My '74 Jazz bass has a chunk of wood missing from the back of the headstock....battle scar. All part of the character. I'm sure Jimmy Page's guitars weren't in pristine condition....how about SRV? That's a guy that abuses his, man!

Dude, i didnt expect ur guitar to get a chip even it was in the bag 8O

Like what the rest say...Leave it there.

Wait till i let u see my RG321....Many Dings at the sides...

Cheers!

Just check the body of the guitar from time to time to ensure that no further damage is sustained as a result of the initial impact.

A friend of mine dropped his guitar, and it also chipped at the bottom, but nearer the strap button. Thought nothing of it and continued using it. Over the course of a few months, the guitar started splitting, and eventually split into two. Turns out that he dropped it on the joint between two pieces of body wood....wasn't pretty.

Then again, it was a cheap guitar. Shouldn't happen to yours, but just keep a lookout.

tt sux...i better start checking my axes...btw i've got a fender strat...the strap broke during jamming...fell on the wooden pavement...not a single dent, but the big 70s headstock made a mark on my bassists bass instead.

The poor poor bassist.....a long suffering bunch, we really are!

chip offs and scratches are like battle scars.. just leave it there.. battle scars are cool!! :D

What battle scars lol, it fell off a chair!

My guitarist had his Epihone Les Paul fall off a chair, and now the strap button is caved into the body at the bottom.....how's that for a "battle scar"

Some things just can't be helped, really! I've acquired thousands of dings and lots of buckle rash on my cash convertor Jazz Bass, and it's still going strong, haha

Now that's one impressive battle scar lol. And you managed to get a Jazz Bass off Cash Converters? For how much?

early '90s, beat up ol' Jazz Bass. Got it for 265 smackers....pity the bartolinis that it came with were trashed.....

That's the one in question! :)

That's different lah. Buying second hand guitar with lots of dings is fine,
no hardfeeling at all. You aware of it, you are willing to pay for what it is.

But the first chip of a well taken care guitar is really heart breaking

I nearly had a heart attach when I discovered the chip on the headstock of my '74, but it's part and parcel of bringing it out....what to do?
