can we have a local band festival just for rockers?

why is it that singapore doesn't have a countrywide concert or festival thats just meant for rockers. like download festival or ozzfest that kinda shit.. number of musicians are increasing nonstop now adays.

It would be a big hit!!

yeah i guess you're right.
i'm like that too. but i've seen gigs where poeple play for free or for a very low cost. it could be like an advertising kinda thing. after all, singapore's always saying they wanna expand the local art n' music scene

if theres one thing which "rocker, extreme musicians, ______(fill in the blank with your prefered cool term)" need to to understand, its that the art and music scene refered by the mainstream media and stuff, usually has nothing to do with us.

Basically you are on your own and should be looking to infiltrate into the system and work within it, to carve out something on your own and not expecting them to do something for us. Or at least look for people who have the same idea and work together. Best if the other people got money to burn

if we wanna be doing something like a festival. The last thing that we wanna do, is to take it as amateur level and hopping bands to play for free and for advertising. It shud not work that way.

singapore government say only la.
i think they're fine with indie rock.. not metal, they dont look at it as an art, like how we look at techno.

prolly you guys could mail baybeats and raise this issue
get them to put some metal bands next year

before you get anybody to invest in a festival, you must convince them that it's profitable.

to do that, you have to prove to sponsors that there will be a large turnout.

are the turnouts at smaller rock/metal shows any indication of this? if they are, then you can draft some proposals. if not, then work on this aspect first.

simple in theory, but it needs less talk and more action.

I think the problem is, when most people think metal, they think of those retards who fill up a 5 minute song hammering away at a C-flat note for the whole duration and just growling over it.

They don't think of the more mainstream metal bands with kickass melodies and anthemic choruses. And trust me, there are bands like that in Singapore.

wow this is what i actually wanted rant about a long time ago...

it really a shame seeing good metal/hard rock bands play and existing in underground clubs. i remember one time around 6 months ago, i think, i was gonna meet my friends over at clarke quay that area (its around the bridge there) and i was passing by this small club of some sort, and there was this awesome fist raising headbanging metal band gigging. and i was like thinking, damn, why cant bands like that ever get out into events like baybeats or maybe something like the rock your world series at timbre.

i also find it contradicting that singapore could even let megadeth come over here to perform as part of their tour. they're metal what, well, what about us? we also have home grown metal right here on singaporean soil. is our music not worth listening to? how would you decide wether metal unprofitable if you dont even stop for one second and listen to it?

it makes me sick when people ask why can't metal heads and the people in the scene get chicks. it makes me sick when people say im satanic when i listen and play to iron maiden and metallica. metal is about the attitude and most importantly the passion and love for the genre. and still to this day, heavy metal has not deserved the respect it deserved for breaking ground in music.

im still relieved hardcore and thrash metal acts still exist here in sg. really. but i just hope there will be a day where genres like these will be able to play in mainstream events.

we could try a mini 3 day metal fest gig or something..
consist of all type of metal genre

Internet forums, we can talk until my son/daughter tell his daughter/son, aka my grandchildren that nobody support us, give us a festival or pity us enough to help us and if ourself still not doing anything. Nothing will change.

have some pride, do something, not rant about people not giving us any chance.

Ultimately, subculture will always be subculture. Cant change the situation cause

I heard from some mutual friends that he stopped doing what he was doing because he simply wasn't getting any appreciation or support, even though he was helping bands for free out of his own pocket.
