can we have a local band festival just for rockers?

when metal becomes the majority, I'll be Britney Spears no 1 fanboi.

Keep metal where it should be, underground. Look at what Metallica is now, you call that Metal? Ptui.

Don't talk about Finland or other Nordic "Metal" lands where dragons and elves dwell. Our situation is vastly different. When it comes to the culture of Metal music, we are followers, not pioneers. We adopted it; we didn't grow into it. No matter how united Metalheads are internationally, the way Metalheads in Europe think and live has, to a significant extent, no similarity to the way most of us do.

so hungry ghost wayangs are the tr00 metal! open for only a month, virtually unintelligible to most but to only a niche audience, warpaint, worshipping of spirits past, odd time signatures, tonnes of cymbals and no snare, songs of death, brotherhood and love lost.

are our nanyang immigrant forefathers the tr00 pioneers? they did come from the land of poverty in search of gold.

I think we are becoming a little too exclusive here...why not try to educate those who come into the sence instead of labling them a posers...??? If they refuse to be educated...than execute them...if not welcome them into the underground...

Well, speaking of 7th month, my friends and I (we're all metalheads though) would joke that the metallic sound of those cymbals at funeral processions are tr00 death metal.

=PunkyPorky

well actually Singapore IS a democracy (or so the government claims to be) and in fact, she's a social democratic country. and a prime eg of a social democratic country would be Sweden.

and i think our voices aren't really heard is because singapore's democracy is representative, which means you let your voice be heard thru certain representative( MPs) and the representatives let it get thru to the others.

so yeah, in a sense it's harder to get voices heard.

and metal shouldn't be mainstream.
just look at punk.
i mean, i hate to say this, but yeah, the punk rock heard on radio these days are lyk, erm, so mutilated from how punk was in the 80s lah. it doesn't even sound punk at all now. there isn't a "rebel" sense in their music( although emo does have some connections with it)

if metal go mainstream i bet they'll become what punk is like now.

just my opinion though,
=]=]

Yikes...I agree on that part where you said that Singapore is a representative democracy...but we are also known a parliamentary republic...and someone just don't know how to step down...so yah....I swallow my republican statement...but I still feel that some people think they know what is best for everyone when they do not...

And yup...thank goodness NoFX hasn't changed...and sad to see bands like NUFAN and Rancid go down that shit drain...

Let's refer to the first post in this thread and not steer off too much.

Also, keep the language clean. No need add profanities.

I still think a rock festival is impossible currently.

Singapore's crowd is too immature for the time being. And organizers won't earn too. No money, no crowd.

Besides, Singapore is small. You have to take note that the Download festival and the Ozzfest are mega-events of the year. The line-ups consist of renowned international acts and the events are held in cities that are as big as Singapore, if not bigger.

Rock festival? Neh.

musicians increase in number... musicians/music lovers who are willing to pay decrease in number.... 80% seller 20% buyer. how to do business???

to have a healthy industry, a balance must be meet...
"if everyone trying to get a piece of meat from the seller free. the meat seller would be broke and therefore no meat in the future." :)

at least Singapore got Singfest now.

even for singfest... people are complaining $200 is alot????? 2 days $200 for over 20 acts expensive???
I don't understand it.

u want a metalfest..must wayang wayang lah. tell the sponsor, only hard rock bands...not so brutal...then on the day itself, kill!!!!

Than after kenna ban by one sponsor...change name and find another sponsor and let the process roll....MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Shud do like Ozzfest or better Vans Warped Tour...... goes from Bedok to Jurong den to Wdlands and Orchard..... Kewl!

Forget about a big scale metal festival here. What I want to know is why has there never been any metal or hardcore bands playing baybeats? I know the standard excuses - offensive lyrics, violent moshing, satanic ritual sacrifices, but goddamn, can't the powers that be open their minds just a wee bit?? I wanna see Stomping Ground or Meltgsnow or Rudra or Overthrown *insert any accomplished metal/hardcore bands here* laying waste on a huge stage in front of lots of people in their own country. Festivals like Rock The World in Malaysia can have a wider range of genres of bands playing from punk, ska, indie, metal, grindcore or whatever, why can't our festival have that??

Well, you won't be able to make a change even if you refuse to care about it.

But, now there's Hong Lim for us. We can make good use of it.
