hi to all guitarist out there...

i'm have been playing acoustic guitar for abt 1 yr plus and would like to seek some useful opinion of which brands of guitar is better...

coz i tot of getting an acoustic plug- in guitar soon, for playing strum and sing during jamming... i myself is the vocalist for my band and i'm not into electric guitar as i dun think i can manage solos, so an acoustic plug-in guitar would be good enough for mi. however i still cant make up my mind of which brand is the best, and where i could get the best bargain...

regds

i'm not considered a pro.. but i seriously recomend a maestro.. check them out! or if you got alot of cash to spare.. a blueridge..

Need to know your budget to give better reccomendations. Godins are very very nice, especially those with piezos + inbuilt mics. But they are more for plugging in.

First things first though, budget, and application?

woah ... Godin multiliac is exx man .. i think its 1.8k to 2k ... arnd there...

hmm for decent units.

Do check out living strings, they have $400++ Zions (Made in China) w/shadow pickup system.

Davis, Takamine...

Maestro , not very sure... but highly recomended you check em out.

... but I know very little about this. wait until the pros come in.. ShredCow?

I don't know much about acoustic guitars... can't really help.

but I do know that someone on luther classifieds was selling an ovation for like.. 600.

And I do know that piezo pickups don't sound as good the L R Briggs (is that how you spell it?) pickups. I hear a friend's recording, it was amazing... i dunno which model pickup was it, and which guitar, but I think the Ibanez Steve Vai Euphoria model has those pickups, not that the Euphoria is a bang for buck guitar anyway. Check those acoustic pups out.

If you're on budget, maestro or the blue-something guitars they also bring in. Most come with the b-band pickup, super stuff for the price and feel.

Of course, if you want a dedicated semi-accoustic and don't care much about it when not plugged in, then Ovation is a good choice.

You can check out other models at Sinamex for Taylor and their house brand Timothy, which is quite good too.

Honestly, I think you'll probably find something you like in terms of feel and tone for a much lesser price than a Taylor nowadays. I used to like Takamine, but that was in the days when most of them where MIJ. I'm not sure how they are now, but as with any recommendations, try them out and you'll know.

I think not just a top of the line, but a variety of sources. If you can't then maybe work with the ones around his budget.

It might help in the sense that you have heard about all the hype of those guitars and having a go with them will let you understand what some people define as "good" tone, though of course subjective. Although I don't doubt the tonal qualities of a top tier guitar, sometimes the price doesn't justify the cost, especially with other credible alternatives.

But like I said, trying a variety and having an open mind will probably get you something you desire and possibility at a budget price as well nowadays. I think 10 years ago I would have never considered anything MIC(for guitars at least) but now... its quite different. Indeed, you can get something great for so much less.

We need the budget to recommend... acoustics range from $40 kapok to tens of thousands of dollars.. those boutique acoustics.

didnt kno they were going tt cheap..

btw u kno tim of living strings..his acoustic has 2 holes..as in anthr big hole apart from the sound hole itself..n he shaved the neck of his classical guitar with a..penknife :? ..

haiz... but do go down and try a taylor...
ive heard loads of good stuff about old martins... but somehow... the ones at city music doesnt float my boat at all...

wahoo... i never tot my post will have so many feedbacks... thanks guys... ur posting are worth my time reading it... cool... now i know many brands of guitars...

with a buget of 400 bucks? how good can i get ? hmm.. i'm like a part time guitarist (coz i'm a vocalist of my band...) so the guitar will be used to play more rhythms in the music... so which brand will project a better strumming sound?

i heard frm some friends telling me that if one wants to get a acoustic plug- in, will be good if he also get a amplify to plug- in and play... the sound project will sound as a whole... any comments for that?

i have surfed around in some websites... i tot of getting Ibanez guitars... any feedbacks for Ibanez stuffs?

and also i would like to know where and which place got good deals for guitars... (dunno can post here a not...) lol... but anyway, i look forward to hear more frm you guys...!!!

ibanez are good for their electrics, their acoustics are uber crap, thin sounding and not very good craftsmanship, at least IMO

like mentioned, there maestro, and mi personal recommendation, BLAST! guitars frm guitar77 and luthermusic, less than $400, can take the change and buy a nice hardcase

if you got connections to ppl who can get you a great discount at swee lee, get a cort then no need wait for the sale.

if not, maestro's are great for the money but the resale isnt that high (yet) compared to angmoh brand. if not i'd say go for a takamine.
