Your best bet to get better cleans is probably to mod the amp for less gain or to bias the tubes cold. I'm no expert on 5150s though; probably you would want to do your research on 5150 mods.

aye. From what i heard, combo versions are biased a little warmer than the head version. Meh... 5150 still has crappy cleans, even after bypassing the preamp and straight to the power amp connected to gt2.

maybe i should look elsewhere for a dedicated clean amp or something

the 5150 combo clean channel.. if you ask me... doesnt SUCK.

its just not as good as fender clean.

do what i did... get a fender DRRI and use the rythm channel of the 5150 combo for dirty. ---> tonal heaven. only pedal you need is a A/B switch

Okay, my MIA Strat /w stock pups -> Zoom Hyper Lead sounds awesome with the Tiet Studios' Twin Reverb - TURNED UP. Very nice chugga when you can afford the headroom.

So if you can afford the volume, hunt for one.

heh, from a family friend who was selling off stuff, i bought it for.... 1.2 SGD. 8) 8) 8) its with MASTER VOLUME some more, dont play play. Mines from the circa Fullerton (CA) era, so im not sure which year, but i think the early 70s if im not mistaken.

oh man, WORD up for this one yo. But in all seriousness, after reading tons of posts over at TGP, ive come to the conclusion that Klons, should be used to drive an already driven tube amp for more secks.
