Anyone tried this pedal before?

Its local dealer is sweelee but I never seen it in Sweelee BB before.
It is said to add clarity, definition and punch to ur tone. I havent tried one before, just wannna gather some views from those who had tried or used this pedal before.

I am interested in knowing more about it too.
Seems like a win/win situation doesn't it? Clarity, punch, enhancement etc etc. Haha!

I read it's review in the magazine itself, but here's the online review from GP.

Almost everything that I've read about it on various forums are good stuff. Some say that your amp will sound like crap when you turn it off!

And plus, it's not that expensive either.

Mobius, check this out.

Phil Thanks for the link! After listening to the demos, it really sounds like taking the blanket off the amp that some people claim, it sorts of add another "dimension" to the sound and adds alot of clarity. Man i feel that familiar feeling of GAS creepin up me again..hhahahah

the downside of this pedal is its addiction, like a drug. the BBE is good at what it does, real smooth n punchy.

Wah, eh don't like that lah, I saving for a h2o and you all bring out the BBE. Haha don't GAS me anymore leh.

Yeah I never really knew what it does exactly, but I've heard nothing but glowing reviews on it. In fact, that's why I know of BBE.

Hi,

I do have the pedal in question and I must say that If I would have my way, I'd like to have it built-in in every amp that I will use. It really adds more clarity and punch to your sound and also imparts "hi-fi"-ness which seem to make your guitar amp's headroom increase especially in high volumes. I seem to find that it sounds best with my set-up when both controls are at 12'o clock. If you max out one or both knobs it tends to sound metallic(tinny) and trebly.

The effect is quite subtle that you don't tend to hear the difference whether it's on or off especially when you're playing at bedroom levels or you're near the amp. But try to walk away from your amp or have a friend play for you while you listen from afar then you will/might hear the difference.

Oooh yeah I'm getting one during the Sale.
Hey Mobius, what if they only have ONE Sonicstomp up for grabs?

I saw it at Swee Lee's warehouse showroom.. it's $200+ i think.. go try it there la.

haha... bought mine for 99usd... quite some time back. its a great pedal.
yes it is addictive and it is always on.

lo contour and process controls like the basic bbe sonic maximiser - adds more thump and sparkle into your tone. you will wonder why you lived without it for so long. a MUST HAVE. no matter how good your tone is... you step on this and there is an improvement... its almost magical..

oh i hope your demo isnt on their website... streaming music.. click the BBE ON button and magically the sound gets clarity and punch? ...

if you go to the aphex guitar exciter website and listen to their sound demo. you can actually listen to the bbe track and activate the Shockwave plugin in the aphex website to get the SAME effect and vice versa. So i would think its just some fancy programming.

Trying out the real thing will be a much better experience.

oic, thanks dude! think i have to move my lazy ass there to try it out, tat place is damn far from the mrt

The cons of such an effect is probably ear fatigue. Too much hifish sounds and lots of punch and clarity usually tires the ears quickly. As a comparison you could listen to Robert Johnson on a record player the whole day and your ears will still be perfectly fresh.

Heard the demos, sounds like some eq-ing thing?
Wouldn't an equaliser pedal be able to achieve the same effect?

i have the sonic stomp and it's my secret tone weapon man. i don't really know what it does but it really creates alot of clarity in my sound. i can always tell if it's off because my od sound becomes very muddy (and alot softer..i play with both lo contour and process at about 8 or 9). i highly recommend it to anyone, especially people who run their guitar through alot of effects. it's the only pedal i've found so far that restores all the sparkle and chunk that pedals suck from guitar tone. i don't think an eq can do the same thing bceause an eq will just highlight the muddiness/fizz at certain frequencies. the sonic stomp seems to remove all muddiness or fizz.
