BAYBEATS 06 is back!

It's all relative actually...

Is it

dark chocolate = bitter, hard, edgy, acquired taste

or

milk chocolate = sweet, soft, easy on the palate, everyone loves it

???

the music: very very very mellow.....too mellow even. was more like a pop rock concert with mild traces of punk. i'm glad it was free.

i meant mellow as in slow / soft / gentle / relaxed / mild / timid / unnagressive / unassertive / passive ......etc

Okay, based on the above two comments:

I'd love to know which bands, to you, rock. Cos I thought 'mellow', based on your definition, which is largely negative, is a bit too harsh a term for most of the bands there.

To this:
anyways, u cant say a word can mean different things to different people unless the word itself has several meanings....seriously...

i love eating mellow-coated strawberries????

charlie and the mellow factory?????
Yes, you can. Thanks to a beautiful thing called 'context'. There's also the not-so-beautiful thing of poor understanding.

And if the term 'chocolate' has been so over-generalised and used so pervasively that its definition becomes ambiguous, then yes, it may as well be "charlie and the mellow (or cow, or jackson, or lala, etc.) factory". Because the word 'chocolate' itself won't mean anything in particular.

Understand?

mellow doesnt have to be a negative thing. i just expected more hardcore stuff in the arena. its harder to rock out to a mellow band but that doesnt mean the band itself doesnt rock.

my criticisms are based on my opinion on the bands' performance, not whether they were mellow or not. everything there was mellow in comparision to what i usually listen to, but i still think angela's dish and one buck short did pretty well.......and you cant blame me for voicing my opinion right? otherwise you should be out there screwing everyone that said they didnt like the bands or God forbid, even agreed with me that they were rather mellow (in whatever "context" you put the word into) :D

after all,we're all friends so theres no need to get so fiesty / rude / "chocolate"...... 8)

Apologies if my candour has caused offence. There was none intended. Peace.

I totally agree with you that mellow doesn't mean bad. But the comments that have been made about the bands being mellow seem rather negative to me. I personally prefer mellow and found that the overall tone at Baybeats was in fact a little too un-mellow. Too much American-punk/emo flying about.

Music festival in this scale will never be able to please everybody.
Just enjoy it as it is and the atmosphere.
Hopefully in few years down the road, we can see more diversity in the lineup.

do you really expect hardcore bands to play at esplanade? and the stage right next to glutton's bay? hehe i doubt that the organizers would allow it

esplanade is a very public place so expect mainstream-type bands to play there. remember not all people in esplanade last weekend was there for baybeats

when will metal have a stage like baybeats.

metal, not meaning your emocore, hardcore, suckstothecore nonsense.

^ We'll have to make it happen and request for metal bands...and they'll end up playing in the chill-out stage -_-"

ozz fest haha!! ya juz wanted to ask how heavy were e songs at baybeats, coz i wasnt there, any comparison to any songs mayb. were there any metal songs like metallica & so on? if there wasn't, i wonder when will they provide a stage for metal kind.

u shld watch metallica's MOP concert in 1989 i tink, damn shiok!! haha.
