Band Competition Prizes Is Too Little?

Do you think that when most organisers organise some band competition or something, they do not understand that what they offer as prizes is too little?

Like maybe 500bucks for 1st, 350 for 2nd and 200 for 3rd or sth. Just imagine how much we have to spend on our rehearsal and stuff. is that really prizes? and we haf to split it among our band as well?

do you think these organizers give a shit? no. Bottom line is about earning $$$. The higher the prize $$ i offer you, i profit less. So....? So they offer less attractive prizes la, but people stilll join hope to win, publicize their band and make more friends haha. THATS LIFE, live with it and stop whining by creating such useless threads.

to TS, have you tried organizing a competition? Have you thought about where the money for prizes, location etc comes from? Most people/clubs who organize such events start off with zero capital. Money comes from sponsors and not every sponsorship will be in terms of cash. Location for auditions and competition will cost money too. Even things like printing tickets will cost money.

I think competition is not about winning money or prizes, rather its about earning recognization for your music. Play for passion, not money

not worth it don't join la whine whine whine. got poor musicians, got poor organisers. be thankful that you have an avenue to showcase your band PLUS a chance to win money as well.

lol for me 500 is a whole load sum of money Join 5 of these type of competition, and win all these 5 comp. WOW.

You can buy whole loads of gadgets/intruments etc.

All bout PASSION FOR MUSIC Not MONEY.

Competitions is more for the exposure and making your band resume look abit better.

we can look at the professional sport industry.

golf, tennis, f1, soccer ...

the bigger the prize, the more pro the player.

maybe one day, we will have band competition like those pro sports.

if our top prize is $100,000 , we will see very good bands coming out from Singapore.

*$100,000 in cash and not recording contract or food vouchers. :wink:

But come to think of it, it would be better for each to contribute $10 to the poor in third world countries....
