I agree with bro snuffs comments that this happens across the board in most countries around the world.
However, I remember my time in Australia where I spent 3 months after my A levels. The people in Sydney as well as most places I travelled to were generally more polite and minded their P & Qs. Once when I had buggered my wrist playing cricket and was coming out of a supermarket with groceries, an elderly lady even offered to help me carry them.
Recent queues at the HDB hub clearly shows what kind of ppl we live with.
RX7 - the act of misbehaving & drawing attention to themselves is another seperate thing from polite behavior. Yes true that a lot of Malay youth do that but other races including our foreign "guests" studying / working here are guilty as well.
I still say it's up to the managemnt of the place to enforce orderliness. Normally customers will adhere to the mgt's requests for queus etc... management of these places - take notice as well for smoother operations the next time around.
