All my DIY instruments no decal one, but if I buy guitar hor...

Fender headstock shape must be Fender, else bopakeh, malu, lose face, horse all run away.

if the guitar is brandless/ low branded but sounds friggin awesome, i wouldn't give a care. names don't really matter much to me. the guitar can be a gibson but if it sounds like sheeeet, what's the point?

Point is that the Gibson can be sold for the price a Gibson commands.

The terrific sounding DIY-ed product will sell for a DIY product price.

The fake, decal-ed with famous brand guitar will damn the seller 4eva!!1!!!1!1!!

Well.. I would be decal conscious in general.. But the moment it comes to DIY guitars, I believe anything goes, AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T HAVE THE DECAL OF LARGE COMPANIES.. I don't like having a DIY guitar with a Gibson or Fender logo on it.. But of course, I'd prefer a Gibbie with its decal on than it being sanded off (assuming they are both identical guitars)..

i'd totally put a fender logo on a DIY guitar. if i build a partsocaster or something and put in a lot of effort to source out the parts i want personally i feel the decal is the finishing touch. and it just looks cooler it's not about malu or what it's just making it complete. to each his own man at the end of the day it's just a film of plastic most people overcharge for but it's a film i'd wanna have on my headstock.

my partscastor is about 75% fender so i think it deserves a fender decal on the headstock hahah but im too bochap now to get it done.

but i think the coolest thing is to customize ur own decal

At times, it's just for the fun to put a logo there. Who cares what Gr3y actually is.. it's not a suhr level guitar. So guitars i built nowadays don't come with any logo decal. But like what edder said, if i buy some ready made branded guitar it cant spell GibsUn! haha.. Brand commands a price only when that brand made it to the industry with respect and love. TGM, Squiers are brands that most people sand it off!

Is it possible to print your own decal in Singapore?

There are shops all over the place which sell decals, premade or those that you designed. 1 example is the shop at bugis street, it's near the entrance. :)

Well.. If it's a DIY guitar I don't believe there's a need to fake a brand. I think putting your own signature on the headstock is an awesomely cool idea, and that will be the first thing that I'll do when I get into DIY guitars. Nobody likes a blank headstock! At least not me.

Not out of point, if I'm seen playing a gibson , I "malu"

That doesn't have any thing to do with being decal conscious or not. If you want to start a war on brands start your own thread.

It really depends on the specific situation for me.

If I have a cheaper guitar brand, say Squier, and it is so good to the point that I actually buy it, I wouldn't want to sand off the brand name on the headstock. I personally want to have a Squier that is so good I am proud of playing it on stage and showing everyone I have a powerful Squier.

If I ever did a DIY, i definitely wouldn't put a Fender decal on there. It's my creation after all, why put the name of another guitar company? I'd put a decal only when I wanna sell it ;) . Unless of course, it's like, say a fender body with a fender neck, then I'd put a Fender decal on it.

However, if we have the Fender guitar already, of course I won't sand off the Fender decal lar. Who the hell would in the first place  If that counts as being decal conscious.

heh, thanks for the input.

but yeah, gotta agree with godspeed, this one about putting "brand" decal on diy guitar, not about "brand" on commercially sold geetar.

if theres a need, i love to start a all "friendly friend" poll on pointy guitars/shred shred fast fast "hey hey darling, have you cum yet, sorry, i was too fast" music and how they rule. But then, that will be for next poll, if anyone, interested, pm me, i start the poll.

and so, back to the topic. "Brand' decal conscious, are you? On a diy/self assembled geetar.

anyway, imho, if ever i do go the customizing way and decal-less headstock, i will let it retain that way. Guess i dont like my toy to be what they are not.

If my "member" is small, i dont want to walk around stuffing socks down there to make it look impressive.

One word.

LOL!

Damn man pathein.. This thread somehow got me researching for parts to make a DIY tele..:rolleyes:
But I don't wanna spend no moreeeeeeeeeeeeee!

If i made my own DIY guitar, there's no way i'll put a big brand on it.... I'd put something unique which i can call my own.

Gibson or Fender or PRS or Ibanez, whatever I play which is comfortable and great sounding... I don't give a rat's ass if it's Squire or Epiphone or some Shit brand. No same guitar is going to sound the same or as great as it should be. I'm sure there's an Epiphone that might sound as great as a 1958 Gibson Les Paul. You pay hard earned money on what sounds good not what's on the head stock.

Someone might flame me for my guitars that I have cos of what's on the head stock but I paid top dollar for what I think it's worth. If you think that Gibson is a "malu" guitar then I suggest you ask the tons of "malu" guitarists why they chose Gibson.
