anybody else a passive person?

i guess you could say that PASSIVE just has it's... natural feel, like how audiophiles love listening to vinyl records. PASSIVE tone depends a lot on the guitar, i mean, the only thing that's gonna change your tone is your style and that treble cut knob o'er there.

as for ACTIVES, they're versatile, they make the bass stand out and most of the time it helps to make the bass growl thump boom and whatsnots :D

personal preference: passives. i've got an ibanez passive, i'm getting a fender P `57 reissue, but i'm gonna move along and get a LAKLAND. hopefully 55-02 skyline, bart pups and awesome preamp 8)

I currently own 1 passive (life's tough)...but i've played my church bassist's active before..and i tink i like the brighter tone so much better!! Great for funk!! So i guess i'm more active than passive

i think active is great for playing rock funk n stuff, but for ballads, passive is the king for me...for that,j retro is everything that i need la,but too bad damn expensive =P can switch from passive to active easily

aww damnit,im wanna get nords MM-4,fixed it in stingray, wonder how it gonna sound, when you've fix your jazz, give us some review dude =)

some basses are just meant for active, others for passive.

passive Warwick? haha. i have just that. and it doesnt sound good without a floor preamp. still waiting to swap out its pups for active stacked coils =D

on other news, my warwick has undergone neck surgery and now has a straight stiff neck with super low action! so low i had to raise it up in fact. =p (i'm one hell of a hard plucker).

just played for service yesterday and it totally sucks to control your plucking to prevent the strings from 'slapping' against the frets. damn. haha. maybe i shopuld have let it the way it was.. high action =x

I dunno man i own a John Myung signature and a fender P-bass but i think i like both sounds. However, I find it a hassle to have to keep changing batteries. But active pups actually give u a nicer boom if u bother to go play with the knobs a little

the battery can be a bitch dude....hahaha,downside of active

Actually, not really, just change it regularly enough, you'll never have to worry about the battery dying on you. :D

as long as you remember how old the battery is. embarrassed myself a few weeks ago when i went into a studio for a jam with my Zon and then insisted that my battery was new and that the amp is dead........ then i forgot it was the wrong bass whose battery i changed....... the Zon is with rotten ramone now for making a fool of its master..hahahaha

Tell me about that! hahaha.. i am on a mission to scale down to just ten basses to love and cherish for the rest of my life. lol. But i am a real bitch when it comes to selling stuff. hahaha.....besides I am trying to get Rottenramone to sell back the Zon to me.........

lol, then what's the reason you sold it to him? or is it just a typical 'you never know what you have untill you lose it' ?

Nay, i sold the bass to him cos of a simple reason, the position of the pickup does not facilitate comfort for the way i play. In short, it works against me when i play with it and its made worse by the fact i am used to my basses slung low.

Why i want it back? Miss the phenolic fretboard and her was about to get it traded off.
