Anti anti anti

LOL... I think the unblack metal scene quite small right... I am into experimental metalcore and already its really teeny and weensy hahaha

achtung! excuse me.. sorry.. i was just passing by.. dont feel alienated or feel lonely.. there are people who are the same kind of yours or anyone out there.. cheers..

i think bands like as i lay dying and tdwp are good. even if you're against the whole "religious messages included in their songs" thing, you gotta give them credit for their music.

im more comfortable enjoying an atheistic song rather than a christian song. because to me, its relatable. its not so much a debatle issue, but more of a subjective one. you'd rather listen to songs that you can relate to and is something that supports your belief more than one that doesnt, i would to. i dont think its easy for non-christians to listen to groups like hillsong because they are a group formed play music about christianity to christians at churches and stuff. bands that have christian members like as i lay dying are a different story. unlike hillsong, they do not write every single song for the sole purpose of praising their god, they just so happen to be christian and writes about personal issues at a christian point of view. im not christian and i enjoy as i lay dying's music very much, i wont even know they are all christians if wikipedia never told me.

I love TDWP cover of the rap song Still Fly... but sometimes I feel they can be quite christian core in their lyrics... but to each his own haha

I am a christian, I used to love metal, now I'm not that into it anymore.

I think this whole unblack metal controversy would be a real concern only to people who listen closely to the lyrics. Nathaniel it seems like you are one of those so I can't say much. For those who are just saying that because being anti-christian is 'cool' or being 'metal' or hardcore, well it isn't.

Well Tim0, it has always been a strong conviction of mine that spirituality and metal should be two distinct entities... but I am kinda of an atheist/agnostic... so my opinions are perhaps a tad side bended lololol... in other words irrational YES I ADMIT THAT

Nathaniel, you cannot separate the 2. Just like religion has deep roots in classical music, that doesn't mean classical music is inherently spiritual in itself. Music is a form of expression of a writer's thoughts/emotions/experience etc. And that comes in many forms, whether you agree with it or not. To separate that would mean to separate all thoughts/emotions etc from music entirely. Different people have different backgrounds and hence these will inevitably become part of his/her music.

Then again satanism can also be called "spiritual", but how come it's not discriminated? 1 thing great about metal is that there is no restriction to topics that perhaps no other genre can do. From god, satan, peace, war, love, hate, political and even humour, etc. All have been sung in metal. Though I have not come across homosexuality. Who knows some metal band out there has done it.

LOL! I am sure I will be stunned speechless... think they better don't come SG... get slapped with the Penal Code right in their face hahaha

Lol..This thread is..interesting..haha

As much as performing to the audiences is concerned, I think it has to compromise with your fellow bandmates, like for example, you just don't ask a muslim or a non-christian to perform at some church just because one of them belong to that religion and got invited. That's a bit wrong to me... see, I'm not a christian, and I am a vocal. It feels uber-awkward if I have to sing and say those religious songs.. :???:

Other than that, I shall not rattle on. Don't know what I gonna say next..:P

Let's keep the thread healthy huh..peace

eh, but christian influenced bands such as underoath, aild etc are totally different from christian bands such as hillsongs or whatever what.

i'd still listen to satanic or atheist or politically-incorrect songs as long as they sound good. music is music.

I believe music in church is part of worship it is not a concert or performence, so I don't think a church will invited without a notice that the band is not a worship band.

Some of christian metal band member can tolerate to do "dark" theme, like Nicko McBrain do Iron Maiden newest song "Lord of Light"

http://www.metrolyrics.com/lord-of-light-lyrics-iron-maiden.html

, or still happily drumming "Number of the Beast" .

so why worry about atheist, anti christ, christian, muslim , new age, tantric, straight, non straight, theme in music ?

Let's keep the thread healthy huh..peace

Peace !!

ah,,, Can I add also .

Can I say a christian who listening metal is get more challenge that vice versa? in my younger day (..ok, I still young) I get difficulty explain my church mate (and some of girl friends ) when they saw my room full of Cemetery-theme poster .

I get hard time explaining that it was the music I interested in. Just like I read The Golden Compass or Da Vinci's Code, didn't mean I anti the church.
