Amp recommendations.

Yeah, seriously. And for the price you can get much better amps.

really. so which are the 'much better' amps that you would recommend over the Marshall Microstack, Detroit_red?

compared to the other budget amps, i feel the Marshall microstack does hold its own quite well. it is not a modelling amp like the Roland Cube series, nor does it have cheesy built-in digital effects like chorus, tremolo etc, but it gives you pretty ballsy distortion tone with its dual-speaker closed-back design.

my 2 cents, as a microstack user.

I had recently been searching for a 30W solid state amp and my conclusion was: There aren't any good ones now.

I am thourougly dissapointed in the state of the market so far. The good 30W ss amps I've played are all no longer in production.
- Trace Elliot Tramps
- Vox Cambridge

If they had a 30W version of the pathfinder I'd grab it in an instant. I heard that the Kustoms are good but haven't tried them myself.

Right now I'm waiting for 2 amp lines to come in:
- Ashdown All Access guitar amps, I heard was coming in "soon" about 2 months ago. These are the same guys who used to build Trace Elliot amps.
- Visual Sound Workhorse amps. Supposedly coming here in April. Probably not in your budget range, as they are full tube.

As for your problem, I would suggest against any amps with DSP, if you are using pedals extensively. That includes the Microcube.

i got a ibanez tb50r amp for sale, all in all, a very transparent amp

the drive is hi gain, but not high gain enough for me

theres an effex loop, and footswitching for channels and a mid-scoop switch for the dirty channel

posted an add some time ago, at $220, never been gigged with

only thing i didn't like about it was that it wasn't loud enough to jam with mi band

i saw the red mircostack, dam chio

what that shop name? keep forgeting, he place it juz beside the door, walk pass there when im going to g77 and luther

Guitar connection.

to split hairs...the little 9 volt power one would be a microstack and the larger 2 x 10 version would be the ministack...

yeah the red ministack at GC is a limited edition if i'm not wrong...i made kelvin an offer for it once..no deal ;)

How much are the Ashdowns? Roughly?

i would recommend the behringer gm110 frm luther which i has.. it has an effects loop too.. basically a tech21 trademark rip off.. but it sounds gd.. i went there to try before.. selling 250sgd new if im not wrong.. worth it..
i used to own the marshall mg series.. but the od channel is really too buzzy and fizzy for me..

just go out there and try all i wld say..

thks

if the distro for Ranking + Music Ensemble are the same, forget the Ashdown guitar amps. I talked to the salesperson at Music Ensemble and he let me know that the next batch of Ashdown will be bass amps.

Well, if you want it, probably bug the salespeople at these two shops... hehehe. Remember that it's darn expensive for them to bring in guitar tube amps (if you're gunning for those), bringing kinda require you to have the commitment to buying it.

Yes I think they are the same.

The peacemaker amps are the tube ones. I'm waiting for the All Access ones which are solid state. I did email them about 2 months ago and they said they would come "soon".

Not sure how they'll be priced, but the trace elliots used to be around the $300 mark so I suppose they will be similar.

Curious - you like the TE sound?

i had a TE 15W amp which i eventually sold. Nice amp, one trick pony feel though. very good one trick pony at what it does though, not exactly my current tastes nowadays.

That was the Brat i suppose. Did you have the pre or post gibson one? I currently have 2. One crapped out which led me to buy the other. Had to search high and low for it cos no longer in production. I prefer my old one, the post gibson one just doesn't sound as good.

The other amp I favour is the Pathfinder, which has a similar sound.

Yea they are all one trick poneys but I like the way they accept effects. Perfect amps for practice.
