Are there any alternative trem units that i can consider putting into my RG? need to change the floyd licensed trem...(no it doesnt say trs or something)

i've read somewhere that original floyd rose is a better choice and it fits directly in...what bout edge or lo pro edge? Is cutting required? will this cost?

hey hey!.......i've got an orignial floyd rose for sale!!.......check out the ads man. boughht last year june. gd condition. comes wif everything.

so an original floyd is better den the licensed ones and the TRS? hmm..guess i've run outta options

In terms of quality and materials used, as well as stability, yes, its better than the TRS.

If you can get, get the Edge Pro. By Ibanez. So it should fit beautifully into your RG. Alot of technology went into that bridge. Plus, with the Edge Pro you dont have to cut off the ball end of your strings. Much easier.

No, unless the RG already has the rout an Edge pro will not be a direct retrofit in place of the lo trs. The distance between the posts of both tremolo units is very close, but the distance between the nut isn't.

a guitar which comes stock with the lo trs trem has a smaller cavity than the edge loaded guitars..
such as the pre 2003 satriani models which come in lo-trs.
anyway if u wanna replace a lo trs with a edge, theres a lot of cutting and routing to be done on ur cavity.. (be warned.. )
so if ure willing to go do that kinda thing then its ok..
other than that an original floyd will fit best inn ur cavity...
theyre one of the best floyds around
very good hardened metal..
but yeah ppl will still argue that the edge is the best..
both are equally good..
the best now i think is the ZR trem which comes in the ibanez S series guitars but no technician is gonna open the back of ur guitar and change the whole system inside for a normal floyd equipped to a ZR system..
totally different mechanisms..
open up the back plate of a ibanez S series and u'll noe wat im saying
hahahhahaa :D
just my 1 cent

there's also the kahler tremolo, but from the looks of it, i dont think its not very well known in this forum. (The band Slayer swear by em)

I prefer Khalers because it feels very much like a tune-o-matic(to me) and thus, palm muting is very easy.

last time i checked at ebay, an original kahler bridge costs around a few hundred dollars, but its mainly because kahler stopped making the bridges for while, and made golf clubs instead. Good thing is they just opened a new factory that make the bridges, so they're back in business. :)
