I'm sure many of you have seen this..

This cost USD$4.50 and with shipping will add up to about $10. Not a big sum but i feel like doing it diy and sharing you guys how to do this. So here we go! It's pretty fun too!

First, let's look at what are the tools needed.

Let me explain the stuff here.. We have from left to right a rotary machine, a cheap peg winder, super glue(which later is not needed), a wall nail, a drill.

Here we have Araldite slow setting epoxy. I eventually replaced this from superglue.

Next we chop off the leg from the peg winder with a rotary tool. You can use other methods to remove the legs. Remember to use a file and sandpaper to smooth the edge of the cut to prevent making a treat instead of a helping tool.

After that, take your drill and drill a hole at the base. I'm using a 4mm wall nail for this case.

Do a test fit, if it does not fit drill with a bigger bit. Remember to start from a smaller drill bit if you don't have a caliper to measure the nail's size. You can't really shrink the hot you drilled too big

Initially i was thinking superglue might just do the job but i recalled super glue breaks easily and you may just have wasted your time and money and effort on this diy. So i swap it to epoxy glue. Epoxy holds alot stronger then superglue so it's definitely best for this job.

Finally before it is harden, we need to keep it in a straight position so that the peg winder will spin properly. To do this, i used a cloth peg to clip it to a window frame and using gravity to keep it straight until the epoxy hardens. Wait 24hrs before use.

Hope it helps!

wah grey, power lah you. so much work for a string winder when you can use your hands or just use the normal cheepo string winders :/ anyway got difference between a normal string winder and your string winder?

it's for either the lazy bug or ppl who needs speedy stringing up. If you were to restring a couple of guitar a day, this is definitely for you..

string winder? isn't it the second tool from the second pic?

how come must take it apart and do the gr3y edition?:/

just use that la hah

no la bro, just that i don't really see the point in making a winder out of parts of an already-made winder...

cool idea though...

ahha , its different lah bro. The original winder you have to turn it with your hand , the modded winder u can attach it to a drill.

i think its quite pointless also if ONLY your hand can wind as fast as the drill.

Hahaha, that drill so reminds me of Hostel or something. It would be a MEAN torture device... you know... think B grade horror, gore, exploitation movies.

"I'll detune ya!!!"

*proceeds to drill out victim's brains*

i had the same questions in my head..why take a winder..cut off a part of it to make another winder..

but i guess i chose to read on to the end.

great idea there..

hey , Im just curious, is that will be little harmful for the guitar? or for the tuner? coz u know the speed is damn fast than normal winder
