Your Own Licks

yeah my bends are really terrible a problem which i've note of.

Here's a tip: bend more than you need. That way, it makes your solo sound soaring, then come DOWN after. This is a tip fom John Petrucci. Really.

Also, listen to mre players like Robert Cray not to learn the blues, but to pick up bending techniques. he's damn good at bends.

would you recommend Marty Friedman? Never heard much of him but my friends said he does some bends that are really weird

I've not heard much from him, except his solo instrumental stuff. I don't find his bends to be odd, but they are tasteful. On his Scenes album there's some really nice passages where he carrys a not over a few bars just by varying his bends. That's nice. Probably where I picked the idea up from too... hahahaha...

My Own Production

Hi guitar dudez! I've discussed with my comrades and we decided to bring this thread one level up. Well here's the deal....

From now on I will only upload tracks WITHOUT any guitar parts whatsoever. Since most of us so called guitar player have access to a DAW,might as well make full use of it. Try to come up with your own guitar parts, be it rhythm chops, accompaniments or harmony lines, or whatever you have in mind.

You have to come to terms that playing guitar is not only just solooooooosssssss....:}
This will be interesting and beneficial to potential guitar players as you will not only think about the solo lines and melody lines, but also whatever in between. I will upload only the drums and bass tracks which means the chords are open to creativity. Like for example if the bass is on D, then its up to you to make it Dm, D7, Dm9, Dm7b5 or just plain good old D5.

Yeah Rock onz...

HI Teleplayer..basically every song have it key although some change key in between but most song stays in one key :} . You have to take note of that key. And for good news, most rock songs can be tackled by solely the minor pentatonic scale (easiest to learn). This is a good scale to start of with actually cos most of the mostest memorable solos are based on this particular scale.

Tis is one of many links to help you start. (Just google 'minor pentatonic scale' and you get thousands of sites teaching this).

http://www.theorylessons.com/pentpos.html

The first position is the mostly used pattern. Once you mastered this then try to explore the other patterns.

Hopefully this help. Sorry didn't reply to Your PM. :}

I want to make this as public as possible, unless it's regarding other issues.

Cheers and happy shredding.

Marty Friedman said it himself before that he likes to add notes that aare out of a particular scale to make his playing sound more tasteful and unique, as such he usually glides pasts these added notes as said in one of the Young Guitar lesson with Paul Gilbert.

Pretty cool , can try out some time too.

Marty Friedman is Japanese music influenced. He said that his blend is want to mimic what the japanese instrument sounds like (a japanese zhiter or a guzheng like , something like that.)

Here's me ONE TAKE attempt at this track. Nice progression, but too short lei... Hahahaha... But it was a great chance to test out my new EBMM with CS69s in a HSS environment. Loving it lots so far.

This track was done with a few things in mind. A lot of off line discussions with Shredcow led up to this one. Got lots of pointers for it. But even then, still trying. Heh.:mrgreen: took about 5 mins of my time to listen to the backing track a couple of times, then lay this one out.

Here it is, mistakes, mis-cues and all: One take

It was a Musicman Silhouette Special SSH with Fender CS69 pickups and Dimarzio Virtual PAF into a PODXTLive. The patch used is a slightly tweaked EVH tonepatch.
