Your favourite solos...

Hi all,

Nowadays plenty of guitarists think that in order to be a great soloist, you have to be the fastest shredder on the planet. But often, some slow solos stick in our heads because they really bring across the emotion of the song.

So yeah, this is not a 'fastest solos' thread, but a 'stand-out solos' thread, the solos that stick in your head best, whether its fast, slow, short or long, or even an entire instrumental track. Let's hear your favourite guitar solos! You can put more than one.

I'll start the ball rolling. I personally like the solo in White Lion's "When the children cry" and in Metallica's "Master of puppets". I'd also add the two solos in Poison's "Every rose has its thorn" and the long, shredfest in "Fallen Angel".

Although short and very simple, the solo in Bon Jovi's "You want to make a memory" also sticks in my head. Simple but really conveys the emotion and feel.

Let's share!

slow and simple solo tends to stand out more...

George Harrison: NOwhere MAn
Jimmy PAge: Stairways(studio version)
Randy Roads:Relevation(Mother Earth)
Riche Blackmore: SOldier of FOrtune
Ted Nugent; Where 'r you going now
Slash: November Rain

sO far these are the ones i can think of...of course there are more...

too many to list, to be honest. but just off hand, I Remember You by Skid Row. if angels traded their voices for a humanly one, it'd be Sebastian Bach's. if they traded their harps for a guitar.. you'd get this song.

Like a Stone by Audioslave.

An epitome of simple yet damn soulful and powerful solo.

Steve Vai's - For the Love of God, Crying machine, blood & tears, Bangkok, Fire garden suite.... so much more.. lol.

hello fren, there's a sticky about solos. check them out. =)

still my fav solo would be iron maiden's wasted years.

Less is more? It doesn't get any simpler than BB King's into solo to "The Thrill Is Gone". That's an iconic solo man... Anyone who does that song as a cover has to redo that intro solo... Can't be more than 5 different notes in that whole solo.

Metallica's Fade to Black - I love how the solo seems to go on and on even when the song has ended.

Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb - Paul gilbert later played a more 'shreddy' version in Technical Difficulties.

Mayhem's freezing moon- Makes your hair stand when you hear it. One of the most unique solo i have ever heard, also one of the most evil sounding.

Don Felder/Joe Walsh - hotel california
Ritchie Blackmore - burn
Jimmy Page - stairway to heaven
Randy Rhoads - mr crowley
Jimi Hendrix - little wing
