where can i get ds 1 for 60 bucks?i always thought it was like 100 over dollars? so i guess im wrong X= i need distortion bad lol. my amp only got overdrive.
forgive me im a 100% noob when it comes to paddles.
PROCO RAT 2 baby ... the most weird sounding yet ... the most sweetest among all the pedals i've tried .... hehehe .. juz hear the tone once .. fell in love already hahaha
i'm using a scrwedriver as my overdrive. and modded jnh as my main distortion.
my first distortion pedal was the jackhammer. i'd say its a really good pedal. you can really tweak the knobs on that thing and get all sorts of sound. but, its rather muffled.
as for the ds-1. i regret selling it away!!!!
but i dont regret buying the jnh and screwdriver.
Hehehe... the DS-1 is an oh-so-nice pedal for using to record @ home... or playing @ home. Try to turn up the volume on your amp, and watch the bass disappear! 8O
Yeap, it tends to thin out, and the tone stack is HORRID... you wanna cut thru? Oh, up the tone. Up the tone? Oh, lose your low end. Like.. totally. Don't wanna lose your low end? Up the bass on your amp... then your clean tone just dies. Its also noisy. Its NOT transparent - thins your tone, guts your low end.
Its a good thing to mod the DS-1... when there's improvements available - always a good thing to check it out. That's why Satch and Vai, both use MIJ DS1s, and Satch has his DS1s modded... Vai used to go for the Keeley modded DS1s.
BB preamp doing it for me now. Punchy, Kinda transparent, and a very watery overdrive like sound. EQ shape is reminiscent of a Fender amp OD but with more gain. Sounds almost... Dumble like. All this with a Telecaster.
Works for me now... Not sure about the future. I'm happy though.
goose, sometimes I really wish I were living in the USA. could buy all the ENGLs, Mesas, Oranges, etc I wanted. And those we have here are quite a bit cheaper over there!!
