You need better writers and photogs.

In particular reference to the Dream Theater gig, I'm terribly UNimpressed with the writer (misspelt "Theater" as "Theatre" to the chargin of John Petrucci, band's Liquid Fingers) and motion-picture photos.

Do this site a favour, get some better people to cover events. Otherwise the name of this forum goes down the drain.

I'm saying this from the perspective as a fan and photographer.
 
well help Soft to take pictures then , I am sure you can come out with pin sharp properly expose pictures. Soft needs more people who will offer their services for free to post here.

so u said u are a fan of DT. maybe could post your version of the DT concert review. i'd be glad to read them. :D

You seem to be picking fights left and right..Can I see your DT photos?
 
The-Warlord, lets not waste our time further. Some people have an insatiable urge to prove to the world how much a jackass one can be. Even on Chinese New Year. Sad guy.
 
U seem to be very demanding, why not just step up and offer your services?

Singapore may have lots of talent, but some of the good ones dont wanna step out, and some of the mediocre ones think they're really good, thus this weird imbalance of mediocre photos but LOTS of criticism.

This guy just joined in Jan 06, and probably did not know that behind the comp screen are a group of friends and buddies. Soft is unlike other forum and he has probably used the same yarstick as with others.

I think he's not spouting nonsense either.

I was expecting interviews of some sort or some proper photos, or something other than telling me what i heard first hand already at the show.

Most of us probably can't bring our SLRs in, so theres no point asking sehsuan to cough up any great pics. But i saw the Soft banner at the entrance, so i tot maybe soft got its own photographer or something to cover the event.

Is that the soft coverage? Or is that just another softie posting? and are those pictures just bootlegs?

I hope thats not all there is... Cos i saw this picture of Brandon standing with Portnoy. So i'm sure there's more in-depth content somewhere waitin to be posted.[/b]
 
actually, just from a language perspective, isnt theatre correct too... its UK spelling right... even though DT IS from the US. thats just nitpicking if you ask me
 
well guys, no harm in pointing out spelling mistakes, esp for a major band like DT - it gives the site a more professional image. But a little tact does go a long way, and perhaps tt's where sehsuan fell short.

sehsuan, Your acting like a big dick. your probably a nice guy as some people have said, but seriously, get over the fact that we arent professionals and we arent getting paid.

Do something about it if your not happy and by that, i mean you take photos and write reviews if we're so bad.

We contribute to this forum becuase we support it. we dont get paid, we do it becuase we enjoy it. I've photographed a few gigs and written a review. I'm not a journalist or photographer, but people appreciate the things I do here. I'm not out to win awards and be in magazines. i'm just contriubting to the forum.

I know James left the video camera for abit, I assume he went to take photos up the front or something becuase he had a media pass.
 
if a writer/photographer is doing it as a favour to a forum, he doesn't need to proclaim he's a "pro photographer" in his opening post. that information is redundant; since it can be easily deduced that forums like soft.com work similar to another site i did help out before; which runs entirely on volunteerism.

by self proclaiming, "pro photographer" in the link below, and showing photos that are wanting... isn't that a contradiction?

i'm going through a bad patch at work, so i'm not holding back any horses about my words. two other folks think the same way as i did; and it seems that we don't really think the photos did the band any justice.
